My wife and I, two seniors, recently had an extra day in Bella Coola which turned out to be great as we took Len's tour! Saw one black bear, went to hot springs and saw eagles. Len prepared a great lunch. The surrounding area is beautiful, saw also petroglyphs and Len gave good narration. The day was sunny so everything worked out perfectly!

After decades if guiding hunters in and around the great bear rainforest of the Bella Coola area Lenard Ellis has turned to guiding and housing folks like you and me. A visit to the Bella Coola area should be on every avid naturalist bucket list and no one is more equipped to guide you than Mr. Ellis. You will need a place to stay and there is no better than the remarkable cabins on Lenard's property. Each is make of local wood and had every amenity for a one day or one month stay. The cabins are set right in the rainforest and it is not uncommon for the local fauna (bears) to roam the property. The craftsmanship is exceptional and you comfort is insured.

There are a number of tours. Day tours can be by boat or by van. Each will have you visit the scenic areas in around the Bella Coola valley. Multi day tours are also available for the serious naturalist. Mr. Ellis has a lifetime of knowledge concerning the area and its sights and wildlife. The time my wife and I spent with Lenard was priceless. I hope everyone who reads this review gets the chance to visit the valley and spend time with Mr. Ellis. By the way we did see grizzly bears up close near the waterfront.

The accommodations are always very good at this resort. Easy going and very relaxing. Nothing to complain about at all just all good. I guess the one thing that could have been better was available firewood at the cabin. But Catherine did bring by an electric heater to take the chill off. Always great service.

The cabins are separate from the tours, but run by the same people. They are every bit as good as they look in the photos. The beams are real red cedar, and the inside is big and well finished. What you need to understand about the location is that it not near anything. So it's not a place to stay if you don't have a car. You can hire a car at the airport at a reasonable rate. The local general store, 2 Kms up the road, is a full-sized supermarket . Eating out options are limited. The cabins have a full kitchen so you can make your own meals from whatever you buy at the shop.
I can recommend the Bella Coola restaurant- great food at a reasonable price (a glass of wine just $4) The town itself is very ordinary, but the scenery is spectacular. The flight from Vancouver to the town is sensational if you can do it on a clear day. If you've ever landed at Queenstown in NZ, then better than that!

Fantastic property, loved our evening around the fire in the gazebo, was a rainy night but so great to still be able to be outside under the large roof.
We parked our RV and loved the nice new shower house and free wifi.
