After paddle boarding in Snug Cove on Bowen Island we were hungry and a couple of locals were kind enough to share a local's secret. Artisan Eats is a gem and definitely worth the walk from the ferry dock. The food is all hand made, delicious and the beer is cold. We arrived just before the Sunday Brunch crowd and were able to get a seat out on the patio to enjoy the amazing view. The staff were courteous and friendly, the turkey breast with apple and brie pannini was delicious. Definitely a place to visit again.

Came here from a recommendation from a friend and was glad I did. The food was cooked fresh to order and tasted great. The display of pastries was awesome (took some to go). I had the breakfast burrito with eggs and chorizo and my partner had the heirloom tomato and asparagus quiche. And amazing coffee to wash it all down. The location is great (about 1.5Km from ferry) on main road, in a cutesy artisan village away from the activity of ferry lineups. This is the place to come!

Enjoy the breakfast, in house made. Staff personal and friendly.
Herb garden in the centre of the table is unique and interesting. Comfort atmosphere and beautiful scene. Makes it hard to leave.

We have been there twice, the second time was just to see if the not quite rude but slightly snotty service was just a one off. Unfortunately, it was not as the second visit was worse. The food is good but the laid back island vibe image they try to portray does not exist in this place. The menu makes it very clear that you better not ask for any modifications even if it is as simple as no mustard, please. That request caused a lot of discussion (some of it in French) and stressed looks on staff's faces and right in front of us. There are signs telling you to relax as you're not on the mainland now but clearly, the staff has not read it. The guy who I presume is the owner seems very uptight and that transfers to the staff.
The food was good but the vibe sucks.

It's hard to know how to respond here. We, like many restaurants, find ourselves pushing back on the many, many requests for substitutions on menu items. It's quite the norm these days for 4 out of 6 people to be asking for modifications to their meal. It may just seem like one person asking for no mustard, but for us it can mean 'who can run downstairs and get the insert of bechamel sauce (hidden behind a bin of cauliflower which sits atop a case oranges, all jammed into an undersized walk-in cooler) to put on a new croque monsieur sans mustard?' (note the croque monsieur are pre-made in the morning to facilitate quick service during the peak periods) All this while the only 2 cooks in the kitchen are trying to make their way through 15 chits of orders, the dishwasher has just been put on alert about a water glass shortage, and the panini gal is trying to figure out which of the turkey paninis she was supposed to pull the cheese out of first before grilling. Of course it saddens me that you felt our stress not once, but twice, and no matter what excuses I make, there is none for rudeness. For that, I apologize. However, I would really hope for a general clearer understanding of just what is involved in a simple request; it is often times a stick in the wheel of a fast moving cart. We do remind our customers via our chalkboard menu that 'you are not grocery shopping.' We do so with a bit of tongue in cheek (the same as our sign that says 'unattended children will be given an espresso and a free puppy') but are hoping that the guests will take it as a gentle suggestion.

Good crusty bread, nicely melted cheese, crunchy salad. Nice job. Pleasant patio with shaded tables. Good spot for a relaxed lunch.
