This provincial park is a gem. The beaches have beautiful sand. Looked like there was lots of parking. Campgrounds looked good although we were not camping.

One of the most scenic and historic places in Ontario.
Prince Edward County has a rich agricultural and economic history, and they have done a good job incorporating this at Sandbanks. The eastern shore of Lake Ontario has several baymouth dunes, large sand dunes created by the waves and winds coming off the Lake since the last ice age, when great deposits of sand were left by the last ice age.
Most people go to the main beach in the park - The Outlet. It can be incredibly busy during the summer. Try Sandbanks Beach, Dunes Beach, or make the 20 minute drive to North Beach instead.
For an incredible sunset experience, go to the Lakeview Lodge site. Located on the grounds of a former summer resort, the area is steeped in beauty and history.
In nearby Wellington, Bloomfield, and Picton, there are a number of quaint shops and quality restaurants. All are less than a half hour drive from the park.
Visiting Sandbanks in the off season (June or September/October) is an incredible experience if the weather co-operates. The crowds are fewer, and you will have the beaches almost to yourself.

I've only been there in the fall but it's really worthwhile even in the cold. Luckily this visit it was quite temperate for Thanksgiving weekend. The beach is enormous and really nice, and the dunes are pretty. I'd recommend making the time to visit even in the off-seasons.

oh man this beach is so beautiful and the water is warm and clean. Great place for family and kids. Can get very crowded in summer but its worth it.

Went to Sandbanks Provincial Park on Saturaday. What a cool place. The dunes are a lot higher than I expected and you can walk on them along the water front. Although this is late in the year, there were still a few hardy soles swimming. The beach is very nice. The sand is great. Ether sand than most beaches in the Caribbean.
There is a nice walkway through the dunes. Great place to spend a summer day. There are also camping sites in the provincial park.

Also see a milk snake near the dunes. Very beautiful snake.
