Awesome Experience!

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Nov 30, 2016
Two friends and I stayed over at the Picton Harbour Inn while fishing for the weekend and we LOVED it. Very convenient being right on the water. Rooms were very clean, warm and priced very well. We try and do an annual trip every year, and from now on we'll be staying at the Inn for sure!

My husband and I just spent one night at the Picton Harbour Inn and I have to say that this is the worst experience that I have ever had. I have travelled extensively abroad and in Africa in my lifetime and I can only say that the rooms that I have stayed in previously have never been this dirty. We should have walked out immediately, but we didn't and we bitterly regretted it. The floor was sticky and dirty that we kept our socks on. The bathroom sink was cracked to such an extent that I was sure that the cracks were full of bacteria. The lamp shades were dusty and stained, there was mildew in the corners, the glass table was filthy as were the night tables. But the worst was the phone. It was so dirty that I did not want to use it. The balcony was a joke as it was all rusted and the furniture on it was so worn that it should be thrown out. We were in room 201. I strongly recommend that if you want to book a room at the inn, you request something else or better, just rent a room somewhere else.

We fully intended to breakfast at the Inn, but when we discovered the state of our room, we did not even want to imagine what the kitchen must be like and we decided to have breakfast elsewhere.

This is most unfortunate as the location is great and it has a very nice view of the harbour.

Thank you for taking the time to review our property. We truly value the opinions of our guests and we apologize that we did not meet your expectations.

The property was acquired a little over a year ago, and we have been working to rejuvenate it. All of the infrastructure and furniture you mentioned is planned for replacement. We are intending to renovate 21 bathrooms this Winter and update as much furniture and as many light fixtures as possible. We are also in the process of determing how to update the balconies as we recognize they are currently old and tired.

We have addressed the cleanliness issue and will continue working with our housekeeping staff. We want you to know that we truly wish for our guests to have the best possible experience and are working diligently toward that end.

We would love to have the opportunity to host you again. If you do choose to come back, or would like to discuss things further, I would appreciate the opportunity to speak with you directly, so please call and ask for me. We hope to see you again in the future and wish you the very best.

We checked in late Wednesday. I've read a lot of reviews on here about terrible customer service at the front desk....well, we were greeted by a fantastic lady, who was VERY pleasant! We had quite a few questions about the Inn and surrounding area, and she was a great help.

The rooms are comfortable, and the views are second to none. Very pleased with the room.

We came for a fall walleye fish. Boat ramp is very close, and is a well kept ramp at that!

Overall, if you're looking for nice place to stay, I'd recommend this place any day.

Great to get up in the morning facing the quiet quaint harbour, watch the ducks in the water and the geese flying overhead. "And not a mouse was stirring", Easy access to downtown, walking distance to restaurants.

Room tip: ask for an upper level room facing the harbour

We stayed for a weekend. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable. Our room was upstairs which meant going up a flight of outside stairs which has its problems in inclement weather. If you are seniors like us, ask for a downstairs room. Easy walk to down town. The rooms do need updating, but the price was reasonable so can't complain. The food in the restaurant was great and the restaurant is well attended by locals - always a good sign.

The hotel was close to downtown and had great views of the water. The rooms were worn, the internet was slow and intermittent.

Don't expect the front desk staff to go out of their way for you. For example when asked if breakfast was included in the price for our bicycle group we received a curt, "probably not" and no offer to find out for sure.
