“Spacious and well suited to hiking groups!”
Reviewed 25 March 2018 for a stay in March 2018

I stayed at the Waterslacks camping barn with a group of 11 in March. We had a brilliant stay, the camping barn is exceptionally placed, next to the Manifold valley with only a short walk to Thor’s cave.
It’s an ideal base for hiking groups with lovely views from the windows. There’s plenty of space to eat together and plan your day’s adventure.
It was a cold stay for us at the end of winter (with the ‘Beast from the East’) but I can imagine it would be an even more ideal base in summer!
I would highly recommend this camping barn, particularly for where it’s based and the space it provides!

“Fantastic basic group accommodation where you can create your own fun!”
Reviewed 25 September 2017 for a stay in August 2017

My friend and I arranged my sister's hen do at Waterslacks camping barn and it was absolutely perfect. Michelle and Jason were incredibly helpful in the run up, cheerfully answering my many questions and explaining the location and check in clearly. We had their permission to pitch a couple of tents in the grounds and that worked really well for our group. The setting was beautiful and secluded and the outside space was great (short walk down a track from the parking area but we managed to bring everything from our cars in a few trips!) and it was especially nice to have a fire in the fire pit. Inside the barn is basic but comfortable and everything works well - the heaters were good, shower was hot, the pound coin electricity meter lasted a good while and we used it pretty constantly for playing music, charging phones, the heaters etc. There was a bit of a queue at times for the one toilet and shower but that was to be expected with a group our size. You really do need to take everything with you because there's nothing in the barn except kettle, fridge, heaters, and benches and tables, but the hosts explained that so we were well prepared. It's a really beautiful setting too, so many things to do in the area if you're the outdoors type. I would definitely book Waterslacks again, we had so much fun and Michelle and Jason couldn't have been more helpful. Thank you to them!!!

“Fantastic barn with all the basics for a family or group camping trip”
Reviewed 20 July 2017 for a stay in July 2017

What a lovely location with a great camping barn. We had planned to sleep outside in tents but there wasn't quite enough space for all 12 of us.

Sleeping area inside definitely big enough for 15. Three picnic tables inside and two outside so plenty of space for everyone to eat. Kitchen was great, with kettle, fridge, sink and a few plug sockets. Toilet and shower were great - definitely not basic. Ideal for families or those not used to camping.

Jason and Michelle were great, very accommodating. Do listen to their advice on not driving up to the barn. Plus it frees up more space outside.

Everyone loved it at the camping barn and we will definitely visit again, as a group and also as individual families.

“Fantastic getaway”
Reviewed 8 June 2017 for a stay in June 2017

The barn was just as described and the setting was idyllic. We had a lovely time and I would recommend this for any group who can make do with the basics and prioritise the location, capacity, and setting. Michelle and Jason were on hand if we needed them but they mainly left us to ourselves. They were also excellent at answering promptly to questions about the accommodation before our visit. Thanks.

“Great stay”
Reviewed 23 April 2017 for a stay in April 2017

We had a great stay. The location is just gorgeous that we stayed out All days long making fire and cooking on it as well although there is fully equipped kitchen (except stove). Nights were still a bit cold but if you have good sleeping bag it should not be a problem.

This barn stay is the PERFECT setting for a big group! The green fields all around you are just beautiful, waking up there really is a pleasure. The picnic benches and fire pit is perfect for evening bbqs, and campfire smores. We had sunshine, wind, rain, hailstones and a thunderstorm but it just added to the perfect weekend! There's plenty of room inside for everyone to sleep comfortably, and the kitchen comes with all you need; kettle, glasses, phone charging points! The £1 machine for electricity seemed to last ages too when we didn't have the heaters on. Make sure to take plastic cutlery and a few extra bin bags if you're there for a while! There are 2 big bins for basic rubbish and recycling rubbish but they can fill up fast after a couple of bbqs and a few beers!
Jason and Michelle are really accommodating too, you can buy a big bag of firewood from them for a fiver, and the cafe they run (next to where you pick the keys up from) is just lovely. Next time we will be making sure we buy a cup of tea and a cake!
We loved our weekend so much that we've already booked another stay. This barn is perfect for all ages, you won't regret a stay here at all :)

Rented the barn for a surprise birthday party. Absolutely perfect for a get together with friends, we had a fire outside and some music in the barn.

Everyone was more than happy with the facilities in the barn and taken back by the stunning views of the country side all around. Very peaceful and beautiful setting, even the cows came over to say hello.

Also a great little pub just a mile away, what more do you want??
