“Horrible Place”
Reviewed 22 March 2007

this place was just horrific.. me and my mum stayed there as we were attending a gig and this place was the closest place to the venue... i cannot believe we actually stayed there.. it was like something out of a horror movie.. the walls were dirty and stained, the place smelt, the carpet had holes all over the place, the bathroom was disgusting and it was just.... a nightmare. can't believe we slept in the beds to be honest, everything was just filthy and unbelievable. now its been a few years since i've been there yes, so they may have jazzed it up a bit and if you're staying there i pray for your sake that they have...

STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!!

Cannot really add anymore than has previously been stated except to agree that it is basic. I turned up and was given a key to a room and asked if I want to inspect the room before hand and if it was not suitable I could look at another.

The room was very basic, a single small bed, TV (no remote) and a washbasin still at least you could lock the door and it was quiet. Only gripes were the bed had seen better days and the duvet was painfully thin at a time of year when it was very cold.

Breakfast was great.

Value for money or not? YES.

I paid £30.00 for one night which was very, very good in an area (Bristol) where they seem to charge more than anywhere else in the country.

With the exception of one single car parking area out front, there is no parking.

Would I stay again, yes if I had to go to Bristol again but I plan on avoiding it!

OK - it's a little on the shabby side, and could use some better maintenance, but it's not HOPELESSLY run down, and the staff is helpful, the breakfasts good, and the location convenient, either for wandering DOWN into the city center (it's up a pretty good hill, if you're hauling luggage) or just around the pleasant Kingsdown neighborhood where it's located. The thrifty will be satisfied.
