What's happened??!!

This pub is all change and the only thing left from my previous meal is the Gin menu

New identity of 'Barcuterie' will take time to accept.

Last visit it was difficult to get a table. Now there is no problem

I hope that this new change works?

What a shame - although the food had been variable on occasions, recently it had been much better, so its such a shame to see that the proper restaurant has now pretty much gone. We only assume that they have lost their chef.
No longer somewhere to go for dinner; the menu is over priced for what it is now; the brunch bubbles 'deal' really is not - used to get a cooked 'main' brunch item plus the continental style breakfast bits (pastries, meat and cheese); they've removed the cooked aspect, but still charging the same. Oh well, such a shame that another WOT restaurant has fallen down in trying to provide decent food to people without having to go into the city. Maybe the extensive opening hours and menu choices were just too much before; how about a compromise - get a chef and do proper food Thursday to Sunday only? Still great gin though

Hi,
Thank you for feedback. We are sorry you are dissapointed that we have had to change the food offering recently here at The White Horse.
As an independent business we have had to make choices in order to stay open, and sadly one of these was to close the kitchen as it was and offer a new style of eating that was more relaxed and fitted in with the drinks aspect of the business.
I'm also sorry that you feel that the brunch offering is overpriced, but I can assure you that we are not a large corperation trying to overcharge our customers. All our prices reflect the products we serve. We actually believe that for £20 a head a brunch platter that includes fresh fruit, artisan cheeses and meats, yoghurt, pastries, granola, bread, jams, and eggs, plus the additions of unlimited prosecco for the duration of your bookings, is actually quite a good deal, particularly when many bars would charge between £15-£20 just for a bottle of prosecco alone.
We are trying extreemly hard to offer good value, great service and keep this local independent bar open.
We are not a restaurant, but a bar serving what we think is simple but delicious food.
I am sorry if you did not enjoy your experience on this occasion.
Katie

The white horse has this one called the edinbrugh something, with crashed raspberries which i find so refreshing. We also had food which i thought could have been much better.
Will be back for more gin.

So good to find somewhere decent near where mum lives, and with free parking nearby. She had lovely sausage and mash and I had a great steak and triple cooked chips (I've had far worse for more money). Good simple pub food done very well - and table service too!

We went for Sunday lunch, having had a really good experience a few months ago. It's still nicely decorated, and has a nice atmosphere. However, for the price I would say the roast is now very average, especially given the price. Had the feeling that they had run out / been taken by surprise somehow, which was odd given it didn't seem that busy. Bit disappointed.
