Description: Grupo opened on 30th January 2013 in the heart of Westbury-on-Trym in what had previously been a Blockbuster and before that a garden centre. She’s a bit of a whopper (compared to the other Bristol Lounges) and has 2 levels (the first Lounge in Bristol with a staircase!) comprising of 120 covers inside and 40 outside on a stunning 1st floor roof terrace which is sure to be a popular spot during the warmer months. Grupo is the 6th Lounge to open in Bristol, the last one was Banco Lounge in Totterdown in 2006; we thought it was time to come home.

This is one of my favourite cafes for taking the grandchildren. The atmosphere is relaxed and staff are very friendly despite being extra busy at times. If you have children with adventurous appetites a selection from the tapas menu is great, and there are gluten free and vegetarian options as well.

Having visited Bristol for a UWE Conference we visited The Grupo Lounge for an evening meal.
Very laid back decor and although they were very busy the service was excellent.
We chose 3 Tapas each and were not disappointed.
As ardent clients of Tapas Bars, when we are in Spain, we thought perhaps they might not come up to the quality we were used to. We were wrong All of the Tapas were excellent.

This is a very popular place so it was packed when we visited. Coffee was ok and food ok. The visit was ok, spoilt a little by the loudness of the background music which was on the loud side.
Staff were perfect and service very good.

We have been to Grupo several times and I am not sure what’s missing but it lacks something.

Hi Chris T,
Thanks ever so much for leaving us this review.
We have definitely noticed that we have become pretty popular recently too! If you ever have trouble finding a table, please don't hesitate to approach one of our team members who will be more than happy to help you find a table that suits you.
With regards to the music, we can isolate and change the volume of each speaker individually, which means we can make parts of the restaurant quieter than others. So, if you would ever like to discuss the volume of the music in the restaurant, or the possibility of reserving or finding a quieter table, please feel free to ask the the manager on duty.
Our whole team had a collective blush when they read that you called us perfect!
However, we would absolutely love to know what the missing ingredient is for you. If you have any further feedback, comments or suggestions, please email me on my personal email GMGrupo@thelounges.co.uk, as I would welcome the opportunity to discuss this further with you.
All the best,
Clara H-B

I'm a local. I pop in to Grupo occasionally. This time to have a coffee and do some work with a colleague. Things didn't get off to a good start - it seemed to be really busy for some reason. I had to wait ages to get served. But when being served the staff were super-friendly. Our order arrived promptly with a smile. Power points are very limited for anybody wanting to meet up and do a little work here as we did. Only 2 upstairs. We got one of those but our time (and the money we spent) would have necessarily been curtailed had we not been able to continue to work.

Hi Geoff,

Thanks for taking the time to leave this review for us. It's really important to us to get honest feedback from our customers so that we can work to consistently improve.
We have also noticed that we've been getting pretty busy recently too! Hopefully, you will be pleased to hear that we have increased the number of team members that are on a shift at any given time, so this should help to reduce the waiting time at the bar!
You are absolutely right in noticing that we do have a limited number of plug sockets. However, we do operate a bookings system, so if you ever feel like popping in to get a little work done again, feel free to call ahead and reserve a table near a plug socket. Our team will be happy to help with this!
Feel free to give us a call on 0117 950 0279 if you would like to take us up on this!
All the best,

We’ve had so many lovely meals here in the past but we were thoroughly disappointed on Tapas Tuesday. We were told there was no chicken for the noodle dish and no chicken teriyaki for the Tapas. This was at 7.45pm. Then our tapas came. Measles portions and no ciabatta, just a toasted muffin. What a waste of money. It’s spoilt our girls night out, which we all had looked so forward to.

Hi Emma,

Thanks for taking the time to let us know about your experience on Tuesday. We find it very helpful to hear back from our customers, especially when things haven't gone to plan, so we can work on improving any issues that may arise. First and foremost, I would like to apologise for your experience on Tuesday. With regards to the issues with stock, we had unfortunately been let down by our supplier resulting in us being unable to serve a couple of dishes from the menu. The Thai dressing we use for both the Teriyaki chicken tapas, and the Bang Bang chicken noodles was missed from our delivery. It was really bad luck that both of these dishes were what you wanted to order.

The ciabatta was also missed off our delivery which was extremely frustrating for us, especially as this happened on Tapas Tuesday when we obviously got through a lot of ciabattas! I can't apologise enough for this. We try in these situations to replace items with something that will be equally appetising, but I can understand your dismay at being served muffin with your tapas. At the very least, you should have been warned about the swap before it was served. It would appear that this didn't happen so I will be speaking with the staff on shift that night to ask why.

Invariably, hiccups happen like this at times, but I can only apologise that we failed you this time round. I am however happy to hear that in the past you have had many great meals here and hopefully we can make it up to you next time you visit. If you would like to discuss this further, don't hesitate to contact myself (Maria) or the General manager Clara via email at gmgrupo@loungers.co

Kind regards,
Maria (Assistant manager)
