Called in for an early evening meal at 5.30. Despite restaurant not open until 6.00 the waitress took our order and the meals arrived within 10 minutes. Excellent food and coffee. Recommended.Nice friendly atmosphere. Well done.

Having managed to get the last parking space at 3 pm, booked in, no problem. Directed to our room, a pleasant surprise, a 4 poster bed in a large room with plenty of seating. The bathroom was again large with a free standing roo top bath, unfortunately the separate shower was very small, a much larger one would have filled the space available. Breakfast the next morning was a sign of things to come, the service was slow, always having to catch the waitresses eye. Dinner in the evening even worse, the service was very lethargic, the chef could only cook a steak medium, rare / medium rare not in his repertoire. Then nothing, plates pushed away awaiting service.... Over half an hour later I walked across and asked for coffee and waited again. Eventually after a second request coffee appeared. Asked to see the Manager who was sympathetic to the problem and made repartition. Breakfast the next morning a bit better. Perhaps the waitresses need telling about customer service and keeping a watchful eye on their tables. However full marks to the Manager.
Would I go again, probably not.

Beautiful breakfast. Nice location. Said we planned to catch the train, and they pulled their car out front and drove us, as they were concerned we might be late.
I will never forget how great our stay was. I hope to return to see the ELY Cathedral again, but more importantly to stay at the Lamb Hotel.

We just happened to be passing through Ely and needed accommodation which we had pre booked to include breakfast. We checked in the room was nice clean and cosy. On check in we found out the did not start serving breakfast until 7. We had to leave before then wish we had known. The mattered on the bed was far too soft for our liking.

We booked for one night and upon arrival decide to stay for two, Our room was booked for the next night and the hotel staff were really helpful and arraged things so we didn't have to move room.We dined at the hotel on the first evening and enjoyed it so much that we ate there the second night too.The location is fantasic as are all of the staff that we spoke to including the maids who went out of their way to chat to us.We will definitely be coming back soon.
