Thanks to Hillary and David's warm and friendly welcome, we spent a wonderfully relaxing few days on Sark in their comfortable cottage - with a bonus day when our ferry from Guernsey to Poole was cancelled on the day we were due to leave. The lack of traffic, and traffic noise, was a boon, and we enjoyed our quiet walks around the island, and the views along the coastline.
Hillary and David will be our first choice should we be lucky enough to return.
Perfect little apartment with everything you need to make your stay comfortable. Hilary & David are very friendly & welcoming and well respected on the island. Lovely quiet location but close to the Avenue and very reasonably priced. Would recommend Le Hurel for singles or couples. Thanks Hilary & David for making our stay very comfortable
As will all of my visits, the warm welcome I receive and interaction with my truly wonderful hosts plays an important part of my Sark fix, as well as the comfortable and immaculately clean accommodation. The apartment is perfectly placed tucked away at the end of a track, and yet within strolling distance of The Avenue. There is everything I need here, a well equipped kitchen, a shower with lashings of hot water, and a comfy bed to collapse in after a day of walking miles of footpaths and scrambling up and down cliffs. This is my home from home, a place I can relax and unwind, and long to come back to. Till the next time!
On arrival on Sark, a few hours earlier than expected, Hilary greeted us at the Harbour. To give her time to turn the cottage around we had a walk around, grabbed a pint at The Bel Air and met Gerry the builder who told us everything we needed to know, most helpful. Hilary then text to say that Le Hurel was now spic and span and 10 minutes later we found it, and spic and span it was. Hilary and David are excellent hosts, always on hand to assist and advice. In fact David lent us his tide timetables to save us getting stranded at Derrible beach, not uncommon I believe. We loved Sark, the island where you travel by tractor, cycle or walk. There are no street lights, nobody locks their door and the sky is amazing at night. There are some excellent restaurants, Hathaways being our favourite. We loved every minute of Sark, even our experience of riding a tandem. Hilary and David real are fabulous hosts and Pippa is very efficient on administration and communication. We have already started planning our return to Le Hurel, a very cosy cottage that have absolutely everything that you need. Thank you Hilary and David for the memories, may there be many more. See you next year.
Situated at the end of a quiet lane, Le Hurel is within easy reach of everything you could wish to see and do on Sark. ( We walked everywhere but there are cycles for hire if you wish.) The peace and tranquillity cannot be described, it has to be experienced. The garden with table and chairs and sunlounger was delightful and we had everything we needed for our short break. There are books, games and jigsaws if you need them but we were blessed with fantastic weather so only used the books. (The book called Life on Sark is a lovely read and can be bought at the Gallery Stores if you want to take one home) David & Hilary are lovely and very helpful and we were very pleased with it all.
I have stayed here many times, and I simply love it, It has everything you need, to make the stay on Sark even better. It is more like my home.
Pippa, Hilary, David have become more like friends than hosts.
Le Hurel is a very comfortable and cosy little apartment. Extremely peaceful as we were the only ones (nobody in upstairs cottage) on this occasion. Sark is so beautiful and Le Hurel is tucked away from everything. The cooking facilities were adequate for a week and there are some very nice tea shops on the island. The apartment was very clean and nice showering facilities and provide bath robes and beach towels (for if weather permits). There are plenty of wonderful walks on Sark plus can hire bicycles, Le Hurel have a couple of their own, mens and ladies cycles. The owners Hilary and David were very nice people. This is our 2nd stay at Le Hurel and we will definitely stay again in the near future. If the weather is nice enough, there is a lovely seating area outside where you can have breakfast etc. unfortunately it wasn't nice enough whilst we were there. The owners have installed a little fold down table in the cottage kitchen area so doesn't matter if cannot sit outside.
The islanders are friendly and resourceful - cosy little community, I would recommend a visit to Sark any time of the year.
