First time we've stayed in a Premier Inn. We chose this hotel on recommendation from a relative. The location of this hotel is so convenient. It's a short walk from the railway station, next to the canal with lovely pubs and a short walk, via the subway, into the city centre. Check in was so easy with a very friendly girl who provided us with a map of the city. The room was in excellent condition and not too hot, there were instructions if you want to switch the heating on. Great to have free wi-fi. The only fault we found was the bed creaked with every movement, but then both my husband and I are of a "large frame"!! Enjoyed our stay.

Stayed here for British Super Bikes weekend which was on at Oulton Park, about 12 miles away.
As always check in no problem, room fantastic, quiet and room temperature controlled with air con. Kettle, coffee, tea, milk etc available in the room.
The location absolutely fantastic. The only issue we had was the car parking. There are about 12-14 spaces underneath the hotel and they do say it's a first come first served basis but not sure if that's the case as they had reserved a space for a disabled customer. We were reserved a space for our second night so how can it be a first come first served? We were also asked if we wanted a space on our 3rd night but there was no need for us to reserve this space as there was no requirement for us to do so. Premier Inn charge £6 per night for parking. Apparently there is an NCP car park around the corner but we were warned by another customer not to leave our car on there as damage to cars is common? There are car parking spaces outside of the hotel from 5pm until 9am the day after free of charge. We parked on the main street on 2 nights and the car was perfectly safe. Due to this issue we enquired if we could stay at another Premier Inn near by and was told we would have to pay over a hundred pounds extra......so we didn't bother.
This hotel does 241 drinks between 6-8pm which we took full advantage if along with other guests........excellent.
There are restaurants around the hotel and pubs, so you don't have to go far. The hotel meals were very popular and it was really busy on the Friday night. The breakfasts are wonderful too, you can either have the continental for £6.25 or £8.... for a cooked breakfast.
The hotel has a cosy feel about it but could do with some heat near the front door as we were a little chilly sat near the door.
Would I stay here again? Definitely without a doubt. Comfort, fantastic staff, location, perfect, the only issue.....parking but there always seems to be space somewhere.
You a,ways know what you are getting with the Premier Inn! Well done.

Room Tip: Just book! Reserve a car parking spot if you can!

Our first stay here and for five nights over the long weekend. We've stayed in another hotel in Chester, a supposedly more upmarket spot by the racecourse. But I have to say I found the Premier Inn far better, not just better value, overall just a better experience and location.

It's a Premier Inn so you know what the rooms are like. The hotel fronts on to the fairly busy City Road running into town from Chester Station. But the rooms are well insulated for noise and given the odd inverted V shape of the building, not that many rooms actually front the main road. Most seem to overlook the central courtyard which hosts their small car park, with the rest on to a quiet lane behind. So no views from any room but it was really quiet. In advance we asked for a high floor away from the road and that's what we got. In the room we could almost hear a pin drop. Granted the air conditioning isn't quiet when you use it but they have it and it works very well.

The staff we couldn't fault, cheery and helpful across the board. A different world to our last stay in Chester.

The hotel is in a great location with easy access to the city centre which is really only a five minute walk away. There is a sometimes dirty and dark pedestrian underpass to the city just down the street to the left. But you don't need to use it. Instead, from the hotel front door walk straight across the road and follow the road around to the left and you'll come to two traffic light crossings that will quickly take you onto the start of the Foregate shopping precinct.

There is a huge brand new Waitrose supermarket just around the corner from the hotel, simply turn right at the canal and walk along it for a few minutes, past the Old Hawkers Arms and Artichoke. But beware the lack of a mini bar fridge in your room. We actually ate at the Old Hawkers pub one night and it's a top spot right on the canal. As is Artichoke just further along. We also ate at the highly recommended Kononut Grove Indian restaurant, next door to the hotel on the left and it was great. Especially as they were in BYO wine mode that night, though I think that was temporary. There are a bunch of other places to eat and drink in the area within a few minutes walk, The Yard next to the hotel to the right was recommended. Plus of course you can eat and drink in the hotel and the breakfasts were really good.

All up it was a great experience and we'd do it again when we next visit family in the City. Premier Inn does so many things really well and especially so at this property.

Room Tip: I'd go for a higher floor, though they only go up to three and perhaps avoid the ground floor where there are some rooms.
