Loved that you could explore a lot of the cathedral even the Abbots own chapel upstairs. Garden was lovely and the windows were stunning. I have no problem with making a donation but you were definitely expected to pay up front minimum of £4 per person whereas I would have liked to make my own mind up and pay and the end.

Thank Nicola F

An Easter break to Chester with the family so the Cathedral had to be done! LOVE the fact that it is free entry. We of course made a donation but I don't like being charged to enter. We did the 1 Hour tour with trip up to the top - fantastic! AMAZING guide Matt. The man who simply knows everything. If you want to see and learn interesting facts my advice is to take the tour. Lovely snack in the Refectory. A nice family half day :). Took lots of photos but not adding them here so you can see just how beautiful it is for yourself.

Love looking at the Architecture of old buildings and churches etc and this one is certainly no exception. It's beautiful inside and out. With a lovely little garden in the centre. Currently they a building a replica inside of the Cathedral made entirely out of Lego. Which for £1 the public can add a piece. We have done so in the past but unfortunately on this occasion there was no staff available to do so, but can still leave money for the piece to be added later. Staff are very friendly. FREE to enter with a suggested donation. Disabled access and toilet facilities. Though unsure on parking spaces as we used park and ride.

This isn't a huge cathedral but it is full of architectural treasures. When we visited there was also some local artwork models on display. There are lots of individual chapels to see and the organ and gothic modelling is amazing. The biggest thing for me was that every stain glass window was awash with fabulous colour and told a different story.
