Reviewed February 22, 2016 for a stay in February 2016

Stayed here for a birthday weekend at the beginning of February. Faultless.
Owners waited for our arrival, helped with parking and showed us around the property which was immaculate, stylish, comfortable and very homely.
The welcome hamper was very thoughtful. It is clear that the owners have renovated the property with an eye for period details and in keeping with the whole history of Chester.
The cottage is very central and we could walk to the plethora of shops, pubs and cafes. Chester is steeped in history and such a beautiful place. The cottage is part of its history. Such a beautiful building.
Well equipped kitchen, plenty of bathrooms and comfortable beds.
A weekend to remember and we would definitely stay here again.
Thank you for having us.

“If you are going to Chester then Douglas Cottage is the top choice”

Douglas Cottage is a high quality listed property in the heart of Chester. Ideal for city sightseeing and exploring the North West and North Wales.
The cottage is well equipped with top quality furnishings and fittings. We found it a home from home. Spacious kitchen, comfortable beds and a toilet on all three storey's!
The hosts (Barbara and Andrew) were really good and were there to welcome us on arrival and attend to queries. They provided a basket of fruit and essentials for first few days. The cupboards were well stocked with useful items for the longer stay (herbs, spices, bags etc.). Also provided a very interesting library on Chester and local sightseeing brochures. Our hosts really excelled in providing a top quality home for our Chester stay.

Liked best: Such a comfortable place to stay for a self catering visit to Chester.
Liked least: Car parking is in the street and daily permits(provided by host) are needed to avoid a parking fine!

“Beautiful house in a very central location, suiting our family holiday perfectly”
Reviewed August 2, 2015 for a stay in July 2015

Douglas Cottage was a big hit with our family of 2 adults and 3 kids between 5-10yrs. Not only did its character and charm win us over, but also its location. Around one corner was one end of the main shopping street of Chester, with restaurants nearby, and around the other corner was the park, with the playground just inside the gates. The house is really well situated to explore Chester city, and both the bus terminal for the zoo etc. and the train station are only 5 minutes walk away. We also walked approx 15 minutes to Northgate Leisure Centre for a great family swimming session.
With a welcome basket of food on arrival, an immaculate and extremely comfortable house, which had EVERYTHING we could possibly need, we could not have asked for more from Douglas Cottage.
Thank you Barbara and Andrew, we hope to be back someday!

“Fantastic place to stay in Chester”
Reviewed July 21, 2015 for a stay in July 2015

Douglas Cottage was like our own boutique hotel in the middle of Chester. Beautifully and tastefully presented with everything we needed and more - and a welcome basket full of goodies on arrival. Next to the park and Roman Walls, amphitheatre and shops. Thank you for a lovely stay in Chester, Barbara and Andrew.

“Extremely pleased”
Reviewed April 18, 2015 for a stay in April 2015

Beautiful house, great location for easy walk to coffee house, amazing restaurants and clubs, shopping, gardens/parks, waterfront and train and much more.Had some trouble figuring out the washer/dryer combo but we managed fantastic welcome basket and great selection of spices and condiments in the cupboards. More than enough room for 3 adult women to share with room to spare. Thank you Barbara and Andrew for a lovely, comfortable and worry free home base for our girls trip.

Fantastic location. Douglas Cottage was spotless. Gorgeous cottage with every facility including wifi. Andy and Barbara were very welcoming and at the end of a phone to answer our queries. Lovely welcome basket too and shown round by this lovely couple. We would recommend and hope to be back soon.
