It was a pleasure to stay in Driftwood cottage, with its riverside location perfect for a stroll over the Old Dee Bridge into Chester. Very welcoming, clean as a whistle and wonderfully equipped, and with thoughtful touches like bread, and milk, butter (plus wine!) in the fridge. Everything about the cottage is perfect and we spent four very happy days there, enjoying breakfast while looking at the river and its birds*, having a quiet time in the sitting-room after dinner in town and sleeping like logs in the comfortable bed.
* our twitch list being: heron, mallard, teal, goosander, sandpiper, coot, and moorhen.
This was our second time at this beautiful cottage. Yet again we couldn't fault it. Perfect location right on the river and we loved watching the cormorants fish in the strong current. Betty and John think of everything and the bottle of Presecco, loaf of bread, chocolates, pint of milk in the fridge was extremely thoughtful and meant we didn't have to go shopping for essentials after we arrived. The bed is extremely comfortable and nothing beats waking up to a view of the river and Chester. We loved using the log burner and the kitchen has everything you need. The cottage is spotlessly clean and so comfortable we didn't want to leave. The Ship Inn is fab and we had two meals there (only 30 steps away from the cottage!) and it was so convenient for walking into town. Thank you so much for another delightful stay.
We spent a lovely few days in this comfortable cottage, wonderfully situated by the river. We thoroughly enjoyed our cosy evenings in by the wood burning stove after various trips out including the City Walls and Port Sunlight.
This property is absolutely wonderful. Situated on the River Dee yet only the bridge separating it from Chester Centre so everything within walking distance. The owners have put a lot of thought into this cottage and the nice touches of welcome starter pack plus wine and chocs. Has to be number one choice for a Chester City Break and would highly recommend. Would definitely stay here again when visiting the area. Was also offered early entry and late departure by the owners.
This cottage is the perfect accomodation for a romantic break in Chester. It is central yet quiet. The location by the river is magical. The owners have thought of EVERYTHING to make your stay perfect. They were lovely too; taking time to ring us when the cottage was ready. We would deffinitely look to stay again next time we go to Chester. Ta also for the wine and other bits. A truly memorable experience. Xxx
