Took me a while to realise that the Rows were the upper level shops. Very quaint, love history and very well preserved. Chester really is beautiful.

Not what they once were, but still worth a visit if you are new to Chester as there’s still some lovely independent shops to be found and some great cafes

Lovely buildings housing shops. All the usual suspects M&S , Debenhams, Boots, WHS, plus Molten Brown, Cath Kidson, Hotel Chocolate. Great area for wandering around.

The experience of visiting historic Chester cannot in my experience be bettered in many other places in this country. Access to a mixture of small and large famous brand-shops and restaurants can be gained by using the walkways along the shop rows amongst the Tudor style buildings.
The view down onto the street below is also a good reason to use them, and again when the weather is wet or too hot. It reminds me a little of a Victorian promenade walk. A pleasant experience which costs nothing.

These rows are fabulous. Watch out for the low headspace and changing floor surfaces but after all it is ancient architecture. It is much better than the modern shopping centre even it if seems to have more than its fair share of barber shops.
