I visited the Rivercroft this evening with my partner and parents, having been here countless times before over the last four or so years to take advantage of their happy hour (5-7pm) deal - roughly £2.50 a pint rather than £3.50 depending on the drink ordered. On this occasion, however, we were charged their usual price rather than their happy hour prices and didn't quite realise until we had been handed our change. The time was 5:11. As soon as we realised, and whilst all still stood at the bar, we queried the price that had been charged with the bar man. Rather than giving us a straight answer he simply deferred to the owner, who in no uncertain terms told us that the time on the till was pre-programmed incorrectly and could not be changed and so he could not do anything about it. Despite us explaining that we had only come in to take advantage of the happy hour deal and had specifically made sure that it was well after 5pm before coming in he rudely told us that we had got a good deal (because in his opinion his prices are the best in looe even at normal times) and so he would not refund us the over payment. He also shouted something about having been in looe for over 38 years. No too sure of the point of this other than perhaps to demonstrate how he has now simply stopped caring about customer service. Once reluctantly seated and the owner had left to go back to the kitchen I then had to sit and listen to the previously silent and unhelpful barman fill another member of staff in on what had happened. Unprofessional all around and we will not be returning, particularly as the globe now offers happy hour at the same time and with a better selection of beers. A shame because we have previously enjoyed our visits - it has just gone so downhill now.

Stayed here with friends. Its in a great position for town, near the bridge, but raised above street level (lots of steps - beware if limited mobility). We had a room at the front with stunning views of the estuary. There is no parking, and access is via steps from the street. The hotel is a little tired overall but our room was clean and well equipped (hair dryer, trouser press, iron etc) and breakfast was fine. Landlady was less than welcoming. There is a bar which also does evening meals, but there are so many other places to eat we didn't eat here. I would stay here again but if not meeting friends, I would check out other options in Looe too.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front of hotel have great views but also road noise

Excellent location just down from Train station and near the bridge.Stayed in the apartment room 2 for 3 nights lovely spacious rooms and a balcony, could do with a little touch up here and there but on the whole very nice.Stayed 1 more night in a hotel room also nice. Lovely breakfast and there is a bar on site which does meals also. Breakfast very filling bit more toast could be offered but only criticism.
On the whole a decent place to stay.

This hotel has mixed reviews, but our experience was all good. We had room 2, one of the suites with separate sitting room, bedroom and a large balcony. The room was clean, staff were great and they provided a generous and tasty breakfast. breakfast. Overall good value for money.

We stopped for just one night luckily, the room was very tired, the duvet looked as though it had been washed half a dozen times and was lumpy, the ceiling and the light shade had water damage and cracks on the ceiling, the remote control didn't work. The bar emptied about 2am to lots of singing waking us up. But the breakfast was good. Won't be stopping there again and wouldn't recommend it to anyone!!!
