Having looked at the reviews, we decided to book for a couple of nights, WHAT an EXCELLANT choice Julie and Jim are the perfect hosts, the room was spotless, the bed very comfortable, a fridge is provided along with wine classes and opener, little details that make a big difference. We had a ground floor room with its own separate entrance, very handy, the breakfast choice is very good, the cooked breakfast is excellant. We will be using the Tregarthen again as it not only provides excellant accomadation at a good price but is ideally located for visits around Cornwall with Newquay and its beaches only a short walk. Julie and Jim thank you for being the perfect hosts, see you soon, Rob & Steph.

Room Tip: Rooms 3 & 4 in addition to main entrance, have own seperate entrence

There are a number of little extras provided by Julie and Jim at Tregathen, things like a fridge in the room, wine bottle opener and glasses, crockery/cutlery for take away food. Little things that make the stay more comfortable - more like home. We happened to have the upstairs family room which is very large but the other rooms we got to see and all were a good size. They couldn't be more friendly!

Mike and Sharon Shaw

Room Tip: All the rooms are a good size and very comfortable.

WENDYAND BENTLEY, LINLITHGOW UK

In the 3rd week of June we stayed at the Tregarthen guest house for one week. We were given the room on the top floor which we found to be a lovely spacious en-suite room, spotlessly clean light and airy with modern decor with a fridge for cold drinks and snacks, tea making facilities and a flat screen TV. The en-suite bathroom was once again spotless with modern white fittings an excellent shower and the skylight window let in ample light and ventilation. The room was big enough for 3 (with a double and single bed) so plenty of room for a couple staying.

Breakfast was at 9.00 a.m. (so plenty of time for a lay in), with the choice of continental breakfast (cereal & croissant etc), or, to set us up for the day we normally had the full breakfast of cereals followed by eggs+bacon, sausage, hash brown & toast etc. . This was an English breakfast done to a high standard, a hearty, tasty, well presented breakfast without being greasy! There was a evening meal option, (we didn't take this because we didn't know what time we'd be back from our travels) but many of the other guest did and seemed very happy with the results.

Tregathen is about a twenty minute walk from the resort centre, and, so offers offers a peaceful location away from the hustle and bustle of Newquay in the main season. An ideal place if you want a quieter atmosphere. The location for us was perfect as although we stayed here without a car we found it easy to visit many of Cornwall sites using either the local bus stops very close to Tregarthen, or, Newquay bus station. The latter has a very helpful staffed information desk, and, we found the buses to be reliable and you can see a lot of scenery at a reasonable price with the day rover tickets offering good value.

We'd just like to say at this point that the owners Julie and Jim worked their socks off in providing for all the needs and wants of their guests. The food and hygiene were top notch (a cleaner place you couldn't find), the decor modern and bright, and, the good atmosphere was greatly helped by the cheerful and hardworking disposition of our hosts. We would love to stay here again.

Went back again 2nd Sept/ again spotlessly clean room as usual, really friendly welcome by Julie & Jim.Really made to feel like old friends. Close enough to town centre to walk but far enough out to be a quiet place to stay. Fantastic cliff top walks a short distance away. Already booked to go back again next year as do many visitors to Tregarthen. Cant speak highly enough of hospitality and cleanliness of accommodation AA 3 star rating Highly Recommended

I've been here several times now and quite honestly, it's the only place to stay in Newquay. Julie and Jim are great hosts and the whole place is comfortable and spotlessly clean. It's a short walk into town or to the beaches, but not right in the middle so it's quiet when you want it to be.

Room Tip: The family room upstairs is great for 3 or 4.
