The Atlantic Hotel in Newquay is a colossus perched on a cliff overlooking the ocean. The views from the hotel are superb; views of the hotel less so. It is nearing the end of a badly-needed exterior paint job.
Reception staff were welcoming and our renovated bedroom was huge with a good bathroom. Always nice to have plenty of space. The interior design in the communal parts is aiming to create the feel of a 1930's ocean-going liner. An abundance of Art Deco mirrors, zebra-upholstered chairs and potted palms. I found it a bit bling.
There was ballroom dancing in the ballroom that night and acres of other function rooms. Breakfast offered plenty of variety and my partner enjoyed his grilled kipper.
I wish the Atlantic well with what it is trying to achieve. But it's not quite there yet.

Dear Rosemary B,
Thank you for your review.
I am glad that you found the views from our hotel to be superb, as you mention are location is perched on a cliff overlooking the ocean set within 10 acres of private headland, we are currently completing our exterior painting, which is affecting one half of the side of the front of the building, we have been painting the exterior in sections to ensure the minimal disruption of guests and it is looking quite spectacular.
Thank you for your comments on our welcoming reception staff, we pride ourselves on a warm welcome and a friendly team of staff happy to help or stop and chat to guests throughout their stay.
I am glad that you were impressed with your renovated room, which you found to be huge and with a good bathroom.
So many guests are blown away by our modern art deco decor in the inside of the hotel, which is of course down to personal taste, we host ballroom dancer regularly, as well as dance functions and events all drawn to the hotel's grand sprung ballroom, and guests are welcome to join in to our regular ballroom dancing classes that take place on Tuesday evenings.
I am glad that you enjoyed breakfast served in our chandelier sea view dining room, and that you found that breakfast offered plenty of variety, we also have an a la carte menu which includes grilled kippers, which Im glad your husband enjoyed.
All in all it seems as the setting aside your opinion on the decor and the exterior painting which is currently reaching completition, that you enjoyed many aspects of your stay, including our staff, service, room and food, and we do hope that on this basis that you consider staying with us again.

Many thanks
Cath Mukit

Very nice hotel but overpriced for what you get.
We stayed there for a 3 night break and first impressions were good. But then things went slightly downhill. Saturday we went down for happy hour which they gave us a slip which said happy hour daily 3pm to 6pm. We got a round of drinks at a reduced rate, then for the second round of drinks which they "poured first" then informed us there is no happy hour on Saturdays so we will have to pay the full price. Why not tell us before they poured the drinks?
I was in room 312 which we noticed on the desk lamp the PAT test was last done in 2014. (4 years out of date). So I am not really surprised that when my partner turned the main lights on that the switch was sparking and went bang. Luckily she was not electrocuted.
Next was my partners daughter who had a room to herself had scaffolding outside her bedroom and bathroom window which isn't a problem. The problem is that why she is getting ready on Tuesday morning there is a half naked man outside her bedroom window painting. I am sorry but this is not acceptable in my opinion, they should of not let the room out.
The little extras like shower cap , sewing kit that they provide. All we got was empty boxes , not that I intended doing any sewing but its not the point.
In the restaurant the food was beautiful. The only downside was the waiter had to come back to us about 3 times to tell us we are out of that can you choose something else. When you are charging top prices like they are then there is no excuse to run out of so many options on the menu.
I have listed my negative points but it is a lovely place. Just needs some money spending on it and a few changes to warrant charging the prices that they do.

Dear paul n,
Thank you for your detailed 4 star review, we value all customer's feedback and thank you for taking the time to leave your comments.
I am glad that you found our hotel to be a lovely place, and that you found that you were impressed upon check in.
Please excuse the confusion over Happy Hour on Saturday evening, we offer happy hour promotions every day except for Saturdays and customers also enjoy complimentary canapes, I do hope that you were able to enjoy these on the remaining nights stays.
Please accept my apologies regarding the contracted team who are carrying out maintenance work, once it was brought to our attention, the gentlemen was immediately asked to ensure that he wore his shirt at all times, all guests checking into any rooms with scaffolding were told about the maintenance work being carried out during their stay.
All the complimentary extras provided in the rooms should be checked, and I am sorry if there was an oversight with this, of course, Reception are more than happy to replace any items, and carry out a comfort call once guests are settled into their rooms to ensure that they have everything that they need.
I am so glad that you found the food in our restaurant to be beautiful, and I am sorry if we had ran out of any items, we ensure that all our produce is delivered daily, and we have had an extremely busy few weeks due to such superb weather, we do however aim to ensure that we do not run out of dishes wherever possible.
We certainly have a large scale maintenance programme in place throughout the year and have recently refurbished our indoor and outdoor pools and spa areas, and are completing the exterior painting of the building- hence the scaffolding.
We do hope that you return again, and please do ensure that you book direct to receive your return guests loyalty exclusive offer on any return stays,

kind regards

We stayed at the Atlantic Hotel for our 25th Wedding Anniversary at the beginning of May.

First impression of the hotel …. WOW !

The Reception and all areas of the hotel were just amazing and spotlessly clean. We had a third floor room with beautiful views over Newquay’s beaches, it was just stunning. Our double room was very comfy and spacious with tea/coffee making facilities. The bathroom with shower and roll top bath was just so relaxing.

Breakfast was very good each morning and all staff throughout the hotel were extremely pleasant and helpful.

We had a fabulous stay at the Atlantic Hotel and look forward to returning soon.

Thank you everyone at the Atlantic Hotel.

Thank you for a fantastic 5 star review.
It is music to our ears that you found our hotel to have unbeatable location and service.
Our Balcony Suites are very special, and I am so pleased to hear that you found it to be roomy, very comfortable and with fabulous views.
We run our happy hour daily, and give our guests a little taste of what the kitchen is cooking with complimentary canapes during this time which certainly persuades any guests who haven't booked their table for dinner to ensure they book!

Great news that you were so impressed with our award-winning food and large choice served in our breakfast dining room, and your evening dinner in our AA Rosette awarded restaurant, Silks Bistro & Champagne Bar, lovely to hear that you enjoyed the views over Newquay Town and Harbour and the good range of food, wines and champagne.

When you walk into The Atlantic it's like walking into a 1930s Poirot film set..It's gloriously art deco.. Marble black and white floors, chandeliers, animal prints and black and red leather chairs... We loved it! Ashley our receptionist was very friendly and booked us in efficiently and promptly.. We were allocated a lovely, large room with a very comfy bed and large bathroom with shower and roll top bath on the 3rd floor with extensive views of the coast towards the Huers hut and Newquay. Breakfast was served in a gorgeous dining room with sea views and was plentiful with good choice of cereals, fruits, breads and cooked breakfast items. The only issue we had was when the people in the room below us were selfishly blaring out their TV late at night, but one call to reception seemed to sort the problem and we had a good night's sleep afterwards.
We enjoyed our stay in the hotel and we will definitely stay again.

Dear PrincipessaPips,

Thank you for a wonderful review.
We are thrilled to hear that you were so impressed with our luxury art deco decor throughout the hotel, restaurant and champagne bar.

Lovely to hear that our receptionist Ashley offered you a warm welcome and prompt, efficient check in, as part of our welcome we give guests a tour of the facilities and take them to their room, along with our porter on hand to take your luggage.

It sounds as though you were certainly impressed with your third floor room and it's extensive view of the coast, looking out to the iconic Huers Hut, spacious bathroom with separate shower and roll top bath, and large comfy bed. I'm sorry to hear that some guests below had their television on loudly late at night, but pleased that reception were able to sort this problem.

We receive such fabulous feedback on our breakfast and the stunning sea view chandelier dining rooom and terrace that it is served in, and we are really pleased that you found the choice to be plentiful with cheeses, hams, pastries, cereals, fresh fruit, salads, and much more on offer along with a freshly cooked English Breakfast and table service for coffee and tea.

We cannot wait to welcome you back again, and please do ensure you book direct to receive your exclusive treat or offer which changes monthly available to you as a return customer.

Kind regards
Cath Mukit
