I arrived At this hotel 11.9.18 for 4 nights. The smell of old carpets greeted me. Shown to room 4 down 2 flights of stairs to long corridors. The room smelled of damp and Windows were "blown". Very dated. Mattress smelled as well. Only stayed for 1 night. Receptionist offered me another room but I refused as I should have never been offered room 4 in the first place as condition was very poor. I paid £346 for the experience!!

Arrived at hotel to be given keys to our room. We had to carry heavy luggage across several corridors and up and down stairs. When entering the room we were shocked by the general condition, it was very dated and tired more what you would expect from a small bed and breakfast not a three star hotel. We went to the reception and asked to be moved to a better room. We were given two sets of keys and asked to check them to see if either were more suitable. On inspection one was better than the one originally given. When we were using the room we found the bath and shower to be sub standard and balcony that we paid extra for was very dirty and shabby. The hotel staff were very polite and helpfull, the food was very good but our stay was over shadowed by the very poor condition of our room. The bowling alley and outdoor pool was closed even though we went in August(peak season) I personally would not stay there again and couldnt recommend it for others.

Net curtains didn’t even fit the window frame got moved little better but bed squeaked and are so old . Smells of damp and noise from cupboard finished at 11 at night and started again at 530 . Shame they have done up the lounge and pool but not the bedrooms . Breakfast nice and staff ok but overall Wouldn’t ever stay there again

The hotel is definitely a three star. They have done well putting money into the communal areas, the pool and sauna are great and the views from the bar are tops. The staff are excellent, the food is okay( breakfast is decent, dinner was acceptable), and the lift is terrifying. The rooms are small and very dated but the views from them are fantastic, our room had a balcony which was an unexpected bonus. The floorboards were broken and paint was flaking off the walls. The shower didn't work properly, only scorching hot, cold tap just made a rumbling noise. As we were travelling with a small family I wouldn't recommend if you have small children as the fore mentioned lift and the door at the top of the stairs is too weird and difficult as it opens out to stairs(potentially dangerous as my toddler tried going up as someone was coming out) so go and leaving the room everytime was problematic. The rooms are two star and the lounge is four = 3☆

Nice location. Staff were very friendly. Needs updating. Breakfast was great. Service was exceptionally good. Swimming pool was great and the kids loved it.the bar was great and there was a pool table which the kids loved.

Room Tip: Rooms from the south side had a better view of Newquay beach
