Stayed here with David Urquhart this week. Food and Staff really good. Service in Dining Room was quick and well organised for our large group. Hotel needs a wee bit of updating, rooms adequate but clean. 10 minutes walk from centre of Newquay and beautiful sandy bays. Swimming pool and hot tub added bonus after a long day on a coach. Great holiday.

Sandy lodge hotel is a big lodge. Twice I stayed there and honestly many times I had lost way to my room. Its big and a bit confusing layout. The rooms are old but spacious. Rooms in certain part are very nice tidy and up to date and that in other part are old style and the wifi network is weak in those parts of the building. Overall its a good staying place. They have indoor gym and swimming pool. The people are very nice and helpful. They also have indoor entertainment programms in the evening performed by local artists. This was the main part that I enjoyed the most during my stay. Given that it may rain anytime in UK, the indoor programms are really good. Overall a good place to stay if you just want a place to crash in night.

Arrived after travelling 12 hours in coach from Scotland. Staff very welcoming.

Room basic, bathroom not clean, dust, hair and the top of a disposable razor lying on floor behind door.
bath no shower Single wardrobe and one drawer. table lamp fixed to shelf between beds. After very bad night thanks to springs in bed. we asked to be moved ,staff happy to help and another room found. Bed wonderful, plenty of hot water great shower. All the staff couldn't have been more helpful. Food great breakfast one of the best I have had anywhere. Dinner also v. good and plenty of it. TV was tiny and on other side of room so it wasn't watched much.
Public areas clean and tidy.

We have been to this Hotel on several occasion's but will NOT be going there again , Booked Monday - Friday self drive with Majestic ..First we arrived about 1oclock parked the car and went for a walk into Newquay went back to the Hotel about 2oclock ..even though the Hotel had not been full over the weekend we still were made to wait till 3 o clock for the key ....Staff not friendly ...room smelt dirty ...Shower had only 3 JETS working ...Asked for a new shower head it was so heavy it kept falling down ...Very little HOT WATER this was hit and miss and my husband had to boil the kettle every morning to have a shave ....On previous occasions the food has been really nice NOT SO THIS TIME GREY FISH dishes served with Croqettes new Potatoes Brocolie and Chopped Swede ..very strange combination for a Fish dish ...Cold porridge ...According to Management it was the same Chef as before, well he was cooking with not so good ingredients anymore ...The staff were all off handed and rude at times ..We were not allowed to sit in the entertainment room as before we were put in a room with steps going up that were difficult for some guests to get up. Hence some went to bed after there dinner ....The coach party from Wales were not happy with this situation and did take it up with the Management who surprise surprise could see nothing was wrong with any of the problems brought up in front of them ....totally blinkered ....When we arrived the barman told us it was a £2 50 bar this was not true as the drinks were full price and charged £1 70p for a glass of Lemonade .Bingo was a complete RIP off ...They Management were bragging about EXTENDING the Hotel Hope all the rooms and closed for a refit and a lick of paint because this hotel has not seen paint for a long time ......Passage way to Disabled rooms had a LAMP on the floor for the lighting very dark going down there ....
