Having stayed at this Guest House last weekend I would heartily recommend it to other people. The hosts Lynne & Graham are very welcoming and the rooms are very comfortable. The breakfast is great with a choice of cereals, fresh fruit and yoghurts to start followed by a full english which is well cooked. The location is superb with just a few minutes walk into town and the harbour area. A big plus point is that they have parking on-site. We are looking forward to our next stay there.

Room Tip: All rooms very comfortable.

We went to St Ives for a day trip, and it was so Beautiful we decided to stay the night. After shopping around to get somewhere reasonably priced which also had parking (very scarce in St Ives), we finally decided on Carlill Guesthouse. The owner was very helpful and friendly, the room was spotless, was tastefully decorated, well sized, the bed was fairly new and very comfortable. Fresh Strawberries laid out at breakfast time (along with a full English and cereal), sums this place up for me, as the owner just seems to care about the little things and is willing to go just that little further to make sure you have a nice stay.

Room Tip: Book in advance if you can.

We are a family of 4 and have just had a very enjoyable week here at carlill. Our room was superb, we booked a family room and were most pleased to find we actually had a 2 room suite, which was great . One double with amazing sea views and one with bunk beds and en-suite. The kids loved having their own room...... as did we!! Breakfast was very tasty and set us up for the day. The location was very good and the car parking right outside the front of the house was a bonus. This was a great find and we would love to come back and stay again.

Carlill is one of the best guest houses we have ever stayed in, it was everything we expected and more. Warm welcome, friendly hosts, cosy modern room, spectacular views, superb breckfast, excellent location, 5 min walk from the harbour & beach, what more could we want! Highly reccommend this guest house!!

We have just had a lovely week at Carlill Guest House, we can't fault it! On our arrival we were greeted with a warm welcome from Lynne & Graham (the superb hosts) and shown straight to our room. What an exceptional room it was! We had room 3, the luxury suite. It had a king size wooden bed with super comfy matress, tasteful matching wood furniture, leather sofa, LCD tv, drinks facilities, hair dryer, en-suite shower room and the room also had 2 windows one of which is a large bay window with leather chairs where we could sit looking at the beautiful sea views over st.ives bay. Our room was cleaned every day and tea/coffee replenished. The whole house was nice and clean with new carpets and tasteful decoration throughout. There is a car park at the front of the house so you don't need to worry about parking (this is something which st.ives is particularly bad for in the summer) The breckfast was delicious, served in the dining room between 8:30/9:30 (can be arranged earlier) Lynne catered for our every need and cooked the food to order, but most mornings we went for the full english! There were also cereals, yogurts and a selection of fresh fruits including rasberries, strawberries and grapes. We had great waiter service from Graham too (including jokes!! we have never laughed so much) Great start to the day. The location is excellent, 5 minutes walk to the town/harbour front/bus/train and beached. Nothing seems to be too much for the hosts, who gave us directions, booked our taxi's and reccomended the best restaurants in st.ives to eat at, Lynne even made reservations for us to make sure we got a table!! We had the best food ever at the first one they reccommended called 'Hobblers' on the harbour front! We would like to thank Lynne & Graham for their fantastic hospitality during our stay, we will certainly be booking again for next year we cant wait to come back!

My daughters & I took an impromptu trip to St.Ives. We were made most welcome at Carlill - providing good views and parking. We all found our beds very comfortable, tastefully furnished and very clean, the shower was powerful and of good standard. There is a short walk into St.Ives town centre which cut out the use of the car! Having forgotten to inform the landlady that one of my daughters was recovering from being poorly, and my other daughter is a vegetarian at breakfast, we were surprised at how quickly they accommodated our dietary needs.... the following mornings breakfast was ideal. While there is a short climb back from Town, anyone visiting St.Ives knows just how 'hilly' it could be, you can certainly manage this short/safe walk. An added point would be to anyone with young children is that the particular rooms we stayed in can accommodate them safely as there is a separate door from the rest of the landing. All three of us would strongly recommend staying at Carlill - enjoy your break !

My husband and I booked in here for 5 days during the Easter period. The location is fantastic, central to the town centre. The service we received from the hostess was pleasant and unobtrusive. However, we booked this as it was given a 4 star rating; which it definitely is not. There was no attention to detail that you would expect of a 4 or 5 star place and definitely not for £90 a night. Although our room had a sea view, there were cobwebs on the ceiling, dust on every surface and the bathroom hadn't been cleaned until the day before we left. . The full English breakfast was always well cooked and fresh but it was disappointing considering the amount that we paid, the yoghurt provided at breakfast was tesco value!!! Overall, I would say not a bad choice, but I would look at the other B&Bs on Porthminster Terrace (e.g.The Olive Branch) which have the same fantastic location, but hopefully better value for money.
