We can't praise this guest house enough! Marilyn and Reuben made us so welcome that we almost felt like part of their family. A superb room with one of the best beds we have slept in for a long time. Beautifully furnished, a superb en suite, everything you could wish for. The breakfasts are amazing and served in a dining room with a fantastic view of the sea. Nothing was too much trouble for our hosts and the lift to the station on our departure added that little extra and was much appreciated. If we return to St. Ives it will be number 10 Ocean View for us and nowhere else! Jean and John , Ruddy 10

Having found the place first time from the direction on the website, despite it being tucked away, we marched up the front steps and pushed the unlocked door open. A quick hello elicited more helloes back before Reuben and Marilyn Jenkins appeared, all smiles, to welcome us. Reuben helped my husband with the bags from the car while Marilyn showed me to the room (Room 1). This relaxed friendliness and helpfulness was a major part of what makes a stay at Ten Ocean View a great experience.

One of the other gold star features is the breakfast. For a small place, the cooked choice is incredible and the portions very generous, and the fruit salad memorable. The laid-out options on the side buffet are also nice, with a good range of homemade items. If you nab the round table in the bay window with the view, that's the icing on the cake!

Having learned that the owners, Gill and Mike Packham, were taking a break from running their B&B, and had installed 'staff' to run the place, we did have misgivings. However, it seems Reuben and Marilyn served their apprenticeship next door well and have taken over at Ten Ocean View without dropping the ball. As well as being always cheerful and friendly, they were happy to share their knowledge of where to eat and drink, and what to do, if you needed to know.

We enjoyed wonderful weather during the whole of our stay which enhanced the trip, of course. Room 1 is realistically not large so I'd have to say, had we been confined to barracks at any point, our stay might have been less enjoyable. The room looks out onto the back of the building, onto flat roofs, garages and everybody's washing! To watch the TV (we never even worked out how to turn it on) you would need to sit on the bed as there's nowhere else. The room, however, was very bright, clean and fresh looking, the bed linens were a good quality and there was ample storage. The bathroom was compact but spotless, with a good shower - but another shelf and hooks behind the door might not go amiss!

As our car is quite small, we were even honoured with parking it in the garage rather than the open parking area - which spared it attention from the seagulls!

All in all a very nice place to stay in St Ives, which really is a terrific place to visit in Cornwall.

We received a very warm welcome from Marilyn and Rubens. A good location, about a 10 minute walk into the centre. We stayed in room 3. Fantastic view of the bay. The whole place was spotless. Breakfast was lovely - everything you could want and beautifully cooked. Lovely place, very warm and welcoming owners who couldn't do more for you. We certainly recommend Ocean View.

We stayed here for 7 nights in June 2010. We are not normally B&B people, but could not find a suitable cottage in St Ives at a sensible price, so we booked here on the basis of Trip Advisor reviews. What a fantastic choice!!
The owners, Gill & Mike, were the perfect hosts and it felt as if you were staying with family or close friends. The view from the property is amazing and there were even dolphins playing in the bay most evenings to watch with the supplied binoculars. There is also the massive advantage of having a parking space, as parking can be difficult/impossible when St Ives is busy in the summer. Our room (No.3) looked as if it had been recently decorated and was spotlessly clean. The decor, linen, accessories and bathroom with spa bath were absolutely top notch. The breakfasts were amazing, all wonderfully cooked to order, huge and extremely filling!!
Part way through our stay Gill & Mike left for a long term break and handed over management to their friends Marilyn & Reuben. They have had plenty of experience (and excellent reviews) from running the next door property. Although we were sorry to see Gill and Mike go, Marilyn & Reuben did a fantastic job from day one and even mastered the troublesome toaster!!
I would highly recommend Ten Ocean View to anybody, young or old. Book your room soon before it's full for the summer!!
Finally I would like to wish Gill and Mike all the very best in their new surroundings and thank both them and Marilyn & Reuben for a fantastic stay. We hope to return before too long.
