“Outstanding Views”
Reviewed July 16, 2016 for a stay in July 2016

Ideal location within walking distance of shops and places of interest. Clean, comfortable and well equipped with uninterrupted view of Plymouth hoe and sea. You will need to be fit as the apartment is on the top floor (52 steps in total) but well worth the effort. Allocated car park near by. We had to move from main bedroom due to the unbelievable noise from the gulls at 3.30am making it impossible to sleep, however, one moved into other bedroom it was much quieter and no problem.

“Miss”
Reviewed January 31, 2016 for a stay in January 2016

Stayed here for 3 nights with my partner, my father and his partner as we came down from Chester to visit family. This apartment is beautiful, the photos do not do it justice at all. It is in an amazing location right on the Hoe with views across the bay and a 2 minute walk to the lighthouse. The apartment itself is maintained to a very high standard retaining many original features yet with a comfortable modern touch. It is spotlessly clean, very spacious and bursting with character. It has been like home from home and we have all said we would definitely come back again, in fact I would love to live here! Staying here has made our weekend much more enjoyable and we have loved every minute. Lastly, thanks to Mrs Sanders for a lovely welcome and making us feel right at home X

“Spotless very comfortable flat.”
Reviewed September 26, 2015 for a stay in September 2015

We spent 12 days here enjoying fine late summer weather exploring Cornwall and East Devon by train. Just a 15 minute walk to city centre, with a Tesco Express only 5 minutes away.

Very comfortable, exceptionally well equipped flat and Clare popped in mid stay to change linen etc.,

Stunning views across the Hoe as the Royal Navy and Brittany Ferries ships sail past.

“Better than Advertised”
Reviewed August 12, 2015 for a stay in June 2015

Stayed June 2015 with spouse. I previously lived in Plymouth for 2 years while in the armed services. Being familiar with the area, I am comfortable stating this apartment is fantastic choice for travelers looking for a large comfortable space with an unparalleled view of the Plymouth Sound.

Apartment rented through Blue Chip Holidays. Reservation process went smoothly, but foreign visitors should be advised that an international wire transfer may be required.

Host was very flexible regarding check-in time. Owner met us at the apartment. She was very pleasant and provided an outstanding overview of the apartment and the surrounding area. Off-street parking available about a block away (parallel on private road). People with limited mobility should keep in mind the apartment is on the third floor of an old building, up numerous flights of stairs.

Apartment was quite large and an absolute steal of a value at the price we paid. Could easily accommodate 4-6 people. Frankly too large for just the two of us, but cheaper than the soulless holiday inn down the road (having stayed their for 3 weeks a few years ago, I can say that with confidence). Furnishing modern and comfortable. Bathroom immaculate. Linens fresh and clean. Kitchen fully stocked and ready for real cooking. Apartment has wifi, TV, and combo washer/dryer (note: washer dryer is quite loud, would not recommend using overnight).

Location: easy walking distance to city center and the Barbican, and various ferry boats to surrounding areas. Building located on the Hoe. Room is on second to top floor of building, and views of the Plymouth Sound and associated Naval and shipping traffic are unmatched.

Bottom line: if you are an American who hates to be around other Americans when you travel, go to Plymouth and the Southwest of England. Plymouth often receives a bad rap in tourist guides, but it is a great springboard for day journeys into Cornwall and Dartmoor, and also has far more to do than one might expect. If staying in Plymouth, I cannot recommend a better apartment than Drake's View.

“Everything you could want in an apartment”
Reviewed April 26, 2015 for a stay in April 2015

Beautifully appointed apartment with the most stunning views of Plymouth Hoe and Sound! this apartment felt like home from home, the owners have provided all you could want to make your holiday relaxing, the bathroom has the best shower I have ever stood under and the bedrooms provide super comfy beds. Cooking in this apartment was a delight as the kitchen is furnished with quality equipment . Eating out was a delight also due to the close proximity of restaurants. Had the best time ever and certainly hope to return.

“Better than we could ever have hoped”

I start this review by saying quite simply, this is the best holiday accommodation we have stayed at in the UK.
The apartment is extremely well equipped, with views over Plymouth Hoe and Sound which are astounding. If I tried to say what is right about the apartment, I would miss something out, so suffice it to say, we found absolutely nothing to even have a slight grumble about. You will not be disappointed if you go.
One piece of advice however, there are four flights of steps to climb after the initial short flight to the staircase, so you do need to be reasonably fit. "I am in my 70's and had no real difficulty"
You will also find that Blue Chip Holidays, who arrange this holiday, and Mrs Saunders, who own the property, are excellent both in admin and in welcome and support.
Top marks to everyone for such a good holiday experience.

The photos for this property do not do it justice. It is a truly lovely apartment with amazing views. We also had brilliant service from the lovely girl who was looking after and cleaning the apartment in the owners absence. The beds are super comfy as are the couches. Just loved the extras such as the books, which we made good use of during our week. The entrance is tired, but when you cross the threshold, the flat is wonderful. The modern bathroom is to die for with a shower that is super powerful - and as we were walking the entire South West Coast Path, was very welcome at the end of our daily 14 mile trek!
I was a bit surprised that basics like milk wasn't provided as was the case with most of the cottages we stayed in. But the cleanliness of this place was far more important to me than the milk! This was the cleanest cottage we stayed in during our stay - but this was more to be said for the owner and cleaner than Blue Chip (which also supplied us with the filthiest cottage of our entire 3 month trip).
I would love to come back to Plymouth some day and I would absolutely stay in this lovely apartment with its lovely view and great location.

Management Response
16 Sep 2014
Many thanks for your feedback regarding Drakes View, Plymouth, we are glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay. Following discussion with the Owner, we are pleased to say that the building’s communal areas are now in the process of being redecorated, which should improve this for the future. It is also the owner’s normal routine to provide fresh milk and biscuits upon arrival, as well as a selection of drinks and kitchen staples, and they are sorry for the omission for your visit. At Drakes View, and Blue Chip Holidays in general, all feedback from our guests is appreciated. We would be very happy to hear from you with any further suggestions, so we can make sure that our high standards are maintained or improved. We look forward to seeing you again soon.
