“Perfectly lovely.”

Even though we had read the many positive reviews of Bluewaters, we were still surprised and delighted at just how wonderful it was to be there. The setting and the view are stunning in all weather, and well worth the navigational challenges of getting there. The location is out-of-the-way, down lovely hedged country roads with rich farm land and magnificent scenery at every turn. Our only regret was booking for a rather brief stay, although I have a feeling that any length of stay would be too short.

The hosts, Averill and Roy, are extremely welcoming, friendly, responsive and accommodating, while managing not to intrude. We had read about the cream tea and the breakfast provisions but we still felt completely spoiled when we sat down to enjoy them. (I'm a competent baker myself, and Averill's scones are as good as they come!) These thoughtful touches, and the many others that are everywhere in the apartment, give it that one extra star beyond the end of the rating scale.

Although not everyone cares as much about furnishings and decoration as we do, this small holiday let is about as perfect as it gets. The decorating is neutral and tasteful and it beautifully reflects the stunning surroundings: sand beige and soft blues with a subtle seaside holiday theme. We were particularly impressed with the excellent and attractive lighting, something that other places often lack. The bed and the all-natural-materials bedding were deliciously comfortable and we slept very well with the sea breezes wafting in the large windows. In the kitchen, the fixtures and appliances are top drawer, and it is generously supplied with high-quality equipment. Cooking in the perfect little kitchen and relaxing on the sofas with a view over the ocean was such a pleasure that we never did get to the reputedly-excellent cafes and restaurants just up the road. I don't know whether to say that this was a disappointment or not! Next time, and I do hope that we'll return, we will have to make a point of having a meal at the acclaimed Mussel Inn.

It boils down to this: if I were a holiday let proprietor, this is precisely the level of perfection for which I would strive. Alex Polizzi would be pleased. Very pleased. I can just imagine her beaming and gushing "Averill, darling, you and Roy have outdone yourselves!" And I suspect that, like us, Alex would want to come back!

Really tranquil setting with wonderful sea views. Welcome pack on arrival consisting of fresh cream scones and provisions for breakfast the next morning. Everything was of the best quality. ( including the Molton Brown hand wash) We stayed for 2 weeks but wish it could have been 4. Lovely walks to east and west and a foot ferry across to Plymouth with free car park this side, so no need to take the car into the city. Am sure we will return.

“Idyllic Beach Retreat”

Blue Waters is the perfect get away offering privacy in a great location. Close enough to Plymouth for sightseeing, good restaurants and nightlife; the property also offers a tranquil respite for those seeking a more relaxed holiday and is situated close to great beaches and coastal walks. The property is immaculate and well appointed. A welcoming plate of home baked scones, jam and clotted cream along with some basic provisions for a cooked breakfast of bacon and eggs the following morning were wonderful touches from the hosts. We certainly hope to return in the future.
