We booked a Sunday Evening at Old Vienna , purely from the way that the menu and website presented, was pleased to find that the TA reviews seemed to affirm a hunch
Once we arrived, we knew we had made the right choice, the specials menu was really exciting, showcasing the quality of the produce that Wernher fastidiously sources. All dishes were exemplary, and just reinforce the passion and skill that has gone into the preparation of the dishes. From the Venison to the scallops to the game, and deserts , just so impressed..
Our waitress Julie was lovely, both engaging and friendly , really professional and an asset to such a genuine and unique establishment, which is more than just a restaurant
It was great to meet our host at the end of the evening, whose passion and energy shine through, as talented a chef as he is an engaging and highly entertaining raconteur..
Contrary to the ££££ , the offering is Great value, generous and hearty portions of fine and elegant cuisine, which all four of us unanimously agreed was quite refreshing .. a great reason to return to Torquay and Old Vienna
Lest we not mention the wines, the Gruner is the best I have ever sampled and we were also pleasantly surprised at the house Austrian red, it had an immense plum fruit, so perfect next to the Venison on the table... it was sampled up along side a very good Merlot and it left it for dead, truly.
