After seeing many negative reviews regarding this Hotel we were a bit dubious of our stay. As we were travelling with a coach tour and we were only booked in for 1 night we thought well one night would be OK. We were then pleasantly surprised. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room and public rooms were clean and very tidy. There was entertainment laid on too. The dining room was cheerfully light and the food was very good. The dining room service would leave a lot of bigger hotels standing! We would not hesitate to stay again,

Room Tip: Room 43 was comfy and looking past the church steeple there was a sea view!

1st room was not suitable as the air vent in toilet not working, complained to reception and was immediately offered another room that was good overall. i was pleased that the reception lady listened to me and was very attentive and moved me without question. The staff were great especially the reception lady/barmaid who was on duty and the barman, both were friendly and upbeat and made me want to come back again. We arrived on the Sat however when we left another reception lady working on the Mon11th Sept morning was ignorant and never even looked at us when we left our key. It would been good to ba acknowledged, maybe needs some pointers from lady working Sat 9th afternoon who was great along with the barman

Room Tip: Choose a room on the rear if staying at the weekend as bar opposite has 3am licence on Sat night

Yup, this place is disgusting.

Dreadful old room, smells funny - mixture of smoke and dirt no doubt. Everything is just very old and cobbled together.

Really unpleasant.

If I could have walked out and gone elsewhere I would have however I arrived late and can't afford to wander the streets looking for an alternative.

It was cheap, but I still expect bare minimums.

Although this hotel is old and tired, the staff are wonderful, nothing is too much trouble, the food was very good and was always served hot (not the ice cream) The rooms were very clean and adequate. This hotel is only a two star but we only paid two star prices. We went with a coach party run by David Urquhart and have no reservations about using this company,or hotel, again. There was also a very nice heated pool.

Room Tip: Not really suitable for persons with walking problems, there are steps down to dining area,I am told...

I have just came back from Torquay and stayed at the Burlington hotel. Yes it is a bit dated but he staff are certainly not . could not find a fault in anything but the hotel does need sprucing up to bring it back and then it may help to bring more people back and keep the staff in a good job they deserve my hand goes out to all members of staff more so than chef Al who seem to all my needs never have a chef at other hotels that I have been in my short holiday experience had this done thanks to all the staff at Burlington hotel

Well a last minute holiday booked with David Urquhart. Must say from the moment our coach driver Nigel picked us up the holiday began. Hotel does need a bit of tlc but our room was spotless. Food was amazing n staff was 100% from arriving to leaving. Will definitely be going back to stay here. Ignore all negative remarks n make your own mind up.
