Lovely people, clean family room, good breakfast with great choice of both continental style or full English, good location. Only 15 min stroll downhill to the harbour (note - it's a steep uphill on the way back - but less than £5 in a taxi). I would definitely stay again.

What to say after our stay at Ashwood Grange...We are a family of four, our youngest was only 1 when we visited. We visited for a weekend break. From the moment we telephoned to make our booking we knew we would be in great hands and that we were. After greeting us with a warm welcome we were given all the information we needed and they Clare and Stuart did not seem bothered at all by our questions on where to go with the children, where to eat, which taxi company to use etc.
The morning breakfast, wow, what can I say, it was lovely!! A perfect set up for the day, everything you could want is there and everything runs like clockwork.
Throughout our stay the rooms were lovely and clean, as was the rest of the B&B.
The tv was a plus to keep the children entertained until breakfast in the morning!! The Ashwood Grange is certainly somewhere we will stay again next time we are in Torquay.

Room Tip: They can adjoin two room for families with children but have a door in the middle that can be shut to give the parents privacy in the night ;) It does usually have two single beds but they put a travel cot in there for us as we had a 1 year old.

Been going to Torquay since the 1950s so we know the resort very well, but this was our first stay at the Ashwood Grange. Our room was spotless and very comfortable, and breakfast was pretty much whatever you wanted, and perfectly prepared and presented. Stuart and Clare are wonderful hosts who work very hard for their guests and have three children of their own, so families are very welcome.

They simply can't do enough for you, from sorting out car parking to advising about buses and facilities, nothing is too much trouble. They deserve to be successful.

Back home now after a lovely four night stay at the Ashwood Grange - we booked through Bookings.com and chose here after looking at the other very favourable reviews on Tripadvisor. Clare and Stuart are indeed the perfect mine hosts and very organised - we rolled up early on Monday afternoon thinking we would be too early to check in; however we were met by Stuart who straight away gave us a warm welcome and offered to take our bags in and said it was no trouble at all that we were early. Breakfast (as several other folks have already said on here) was all freshly prepared and nothing was any trouble.

There is plenty of local information booklets & guides available in the lobby but Clare & Stuart themselves are a mine of information - saved a trip to the tourist office from the outset! The bus stops outside the hotel were extremely useful and as we had our 1-year old daughter with us it was a huge plus in that you could take your pushchair on board. The 'Hop 12' service runs every 10 mins down into Torquay town centre and then back up towards Newton Abbot with the same frequency and this service continues until quite late at night (although they run every 20 mins then). That said, the seafront and Riviera Centre are only about a 15 min walk away anyway.

On a more personal note, our daughter celebrated her 1st birthday this week, and when we went for breakfast that particular morning there was a birthday card on the table from Clare & Stuart - that was a lovely gesture and definitely not one you would get in any chain hotel!

Would certainly recommend to anyone although (due to the geography of Torquay!) you may find it easier to park and load/unload your car across the road from the hotel as the car park is on a fairly steep slope.

Room Tip: We had Room 10 which was roomy enough to accommodate a large cot (provided free of charge) and still didn't feel cramped. Plenty of wardrobe space too.
