My five year old son and I stayed for a summer holiday weekend. He loved it - especially the swimming pool, children's games room and being able to watch tv from bed. Though bit of a shame you have to pay for games like billiards and there are pay-for arcade games. Wifi signal could be stronger for TVs and iPhone use too.

Our double room was small but comfortable with nice views. Staff efficient and helpful and generally friendly.

Its an absolute winner in terms of location though . Few minutes walk to Alum Chine beach which also has a great playground. Easy access to other Bournemouth beaches, Sandbanks and Poole harbour too.

Would definitely recommend for a good short family break.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us your thoughts. I am delighted to hear that your son was able to enjoy the activities that we laid on throughout the Summer. Just to note, the arcade games and pool table do not belong to the hotel so they do incur a small fee (we do not receive any of the monies from these). The items owned by us (ping pong, Nintendo Wii, craft table and board games) are all free of charge so there is plenty for to keep children entertained without incurring any additional fees. We hope we will see you all again soon.

Best wishes

Just back from a 4 day break in this hotel, we had a total of 7 rooms, the family ones (1 double, 1 single and 1 set of bunks) were a good size although bathrooms were small in the family room (def 1 person only, hard trying to bath small kids) and a couple of the single rooms and the double room were small, but still adequate. Peculiar flat screen TV's at angles that couldn't be watched - a bracket would be better for this? All staff excellent (reception, housekeeping, restaurant) and delicious food in the evenings. We were a large party and the orders were spot on the first couple of nights when one particular member of staff was in charge but went completely haywire on the third night resulting in a lot of sending back of food and eating at different times. Breakfast well stocked up. Kids enjoyed the games room and the indoor pool - the outdoor pool is UNHEATED and therefore pretty much unusable, such a shame- I didn't see anyone in it the 4 days that we were there so am not sure when it can be used as we were fortunate and had beautiful weather (and we were in the sea a lot but it was way colder then that!)..but the indoor pool was a hit and the hot tub. Very small gym, felt pretty claustrophobic wit 4 people in it, but good to go to if you can work out when no one else is there! We managed to park in the car park but other family members parked on nearby roads. All in all a very enjoyable time with the positives outweighing the negatives.

Just returned home from a 2 night stay at the Riviera hotel and apartments in Alum Chine...
This hotel is in a PERFECT location-literally 5 minutes from Alum Chine beach. And also close to Bournemouth beach/pier (which can also be accessed by the little land train if you prefer), & about 15 minute bus ride to Sandbanks. (We did walk it...a slowish walk of about hour and a bit), but caught the number 50 bus back, which dropped us on Mountbatten Drive..a 4 minute walk from the hotel.
The hotel was lovely. I was here with my 2 daughters (aged 18 & 14 yrs) & my dog, & we were in room 206 on the second floor overlooking the outdoor pool and sea view. It was stunning. Lovely to spend an evening on the balcony with the moon glistening off the sea. Our room was comfortable and quiet. The beds were replaced on our last day, & wish we could of slept in them, but we had a great nights sleep in the old beds. The room was lovely and clean and had everything we needed. We used the indoor pool and jacuzzi which was a real bonus & fab, but due to the wonderful weather we spent the rest of the time on the beach so didn't make use of the outdoor pool.
Parking was a little tricky as there was a wedding and two baby showers on the day we arrived but I dropped the girls off outside the hotel with the suitcases and went and found a place to park in the residential street behind the apartments. That's where my car stayed till we drove home!
Didn't make use of the games room, although did buy a drink from the bar and the staff were lovely. Also was on a bit of a tight budget so couldn't afford to eat at the hotel restaurant & so took bits with us for breakfast and lunch and then brought food from various cafes/ beach takeaways etc for evening meals.
The hotel is dog friendly (& our first time taking our dog away) & was so lovely to be able to have him with us. There are plenty of places on the beach that dogs are allowed, (even in high season) which was fab and also plenty of places marked up as dog free, if that's your preference. Dogs aren't allowed on the beach at Sandbanks or towards the pier at Bournemouth, but lots of places in Alum chine.
We had such lovely time and I would LOVE to come back again, but maybe stay for a little longer,if I could afford to!

We came with 2 small dogs. We were given a very small room but after second attempt at changing to larger room we managed it.. then enjoyed our stay. The rooms are very very clean I was impressed! We were out all day with the dogs so don't know how everything else was in the hotel. I would recommend this place if you have well behaved dogs on holiday with you.

Another great stay at this lovely hotel. Shame about the weather, the indoor pool is a god send, although the kids still used the outdoors pool. Breakfast I always eat to much as food is lovely and fresh.

If you've not been try it.

Thank you so much for leaving us your thoughts. I am thrilled to hear that your return visit was so enjoyable. Sorry, there really isn't a lot we can do about the weather but it is great to hear that you were able to make use of our indoor activities! We're all the same when it comes to breakfast- just can't help but have a couple of extra bits of sizzling bacon!

See you again soon.

We decided to have a few nights away and chose Bournemouth. Our apartment was clean and nicely furnished next to the outdoor swimming pool. When I booked the hotel,I noticed that it was a little way out of town and wondered if there were any cafes or restaurants nearby. After a short walk,we were on a lovely beach with a good choice of places to eat.We also had the use of the indoor pool and gym which came in very handy as it rained on one of the days-my wife and daughter also treated themselves to a pamper session in the Spa.
We would not hesitate in booking in to The Riviera again.
