As a treat we walked into the Hermitage without a book to check availability for a cream tea, after going with family before.
After speaking to very nice friendly reception staff, we spoke to a gentleman his name was Manuel i believe, who advised without hesitation, it would be no problem other than all food is cook fresh and thus welcomed us to wait., we opted to leave the car and took a walk into town and do a little shopping, on return we had a table reserve and set up for us, the food was brought out on a three tier tray all filled with fresh made sandwiches, scones and cakes and ample of freshly made Tea/coffee, the presentation was beautiful laid out and we didn't feel at all rush, we just relaxed and took our time enjoying the comfortable location and the views off the gardens and the beach, a fully enjoyable afternoon tea, would highly recommend to our friends or anyone visiting the area, we shall defiantly return in the near future.

Just returned from 4 night stay at this friendly hotel. Our room 611 was comfortable, some rooms we believe are in need of updating but we understand this is taking place.

Our room was refreshed each day to a very high standard. All the staff were very attentive.

This is the 4th time we have stayed at the Hermitage and have never been disappointed.

Location is very close to the town, gardens and beach, and convenient to the Bournemouth International centre and the Pavilion, Ideal if you are attending a conference or a show.

Breakfast was excellent and we dined in the restaurant each of the 4 nights, food was of a very high standard.

We have no hesitation in recommending the Hermitage as a place to stay. The staff made polite and made us feel welcomed.

Room Tip: Our room was at front of hotel overlooking sea and gardens but can be noisy, as close to roadway an...

We are just back from a 4 night break. We stayed in an Inland view, the room has recently been refurbished to very high standards. Lovely furnishings from John Lewis, and outstanding walnut furniture, lovely soft bed with white crisp linen, walls were sage and cream in colour. The bathroom was very high tech. Very big and decorated in white paint and matching tasteful tiles It was over and above what i was expecting.

Decoration work going on in the hotel. I found all workman to be polite and friendly and they hardly made any noise.

All staff are very friendly, willing to go that extra mile to help you. They all have positive attitudes and smiles.

Breakfast was lovely, with loads to choose from, however i did find the tea, coffee and toast a tad slow in the getting to the table in the mornings.

The hotel does have a carpark, with limited spaces and people will double park and leave their keys in reception if blocking anyone in. You might have to juggle your car around to get out. I sat watched many cars to do this.

Overall this hotel is in a fabulous location just a few steps to the beach or if u fancy further afield just jump on the bus opposite the hotel and for a unlimited pass of £4 a day.

This should have been a five star review. The position of the hotel is perfect - so close to the sea and with easy access to the parks, shops and sea front entertainments. Parking was no trouble at all, and free. From the moment we entered the hotel, the staff were unfailingly friendly and helpful. The public areas of the hotel were very well managed and welcoming. The restaurant was extremely good. Breakfasts had a wide range of items served buffet style. Dinner was a real pleasure - the food was of a very high standard. We ate one three consecutive nights with a different menu on each night. All the dishes we had were delicious. The slight disappointment for us was the bedroom. We had an 'inland view' room, from which we could actually see the sea. However, the bed was a standard double. We did think that as this was a four star hotel, the bed should at least have been a king-size (which would easily have fitted in the room). Also, the general furnishings and décor were dated and there were no easy chairs in the room. In fact, there was only one chair, despite it being a double room. The bathroom was also very small and lacking in space for towels to hang. These points would not stop us returning to the hotel or thoroughly recommending it as an excellent place to stay in Bournemouth. It is just a shame that the room was not better equipped

Located on the seafront between beach and municipal gardens with free car parking. The town centre is easily reached by a short walk through the gardens- perfect position if you have limited mobility. Our room on the second floor was lovely with nice views. Bathroom had a shower over the bath and complimentary toiletries. Room had tea/ coffee making facilities , hairdryer (wall mounted type) was found in a drawer and there was an iron and trouser press but no mini bar/ fridge. We found the catches in the window frame which allowed us to open the window wider....some people seem to have missed these. We enjoyed the hot and cold buffet breakfast and evening meals served at the on-site restaurant. Food was amazing and good value. Evening menus were creative ( ate pickled girroles for the first time) but the hotel should invest in new plates for evening dining- the clumpy well worn plates spoiled the presentation of the food!! Breakfast plates were fine and white . All staff were efficient, helpful and enjoyed interacting and chatting with guests without being intrusive. Would recommend and look forward to a return visit.

The only room available for me was a compact inland room. However, this was still of a good size and the bathroom ample in size. The only downside was that this room (602)was always baking hot and the windows provide little ventilation being enclosed in a courtyard. I did manage to obtain a fan, however, this was noisy to use all night.
Bathroom amenities could be a little better- how about some body lotion? also the buffet breakfast could be enhanced. The same fruits everyday- where were the summer strawberries, raspberries and Blueberries? These are all very minor details, but it is a four star hotel.
However, I had a fantastic room rate, the staff were super friendly and helpful. The food and menus for afternoon tea, snacks and dinner were all very reasonably priced and of good quality.
The hotel is in a perfect location for exploring Bournemouth.
I would have no hesitation in recommending the hotel or staying here again. Friendly clean efficient and probably the best place I have ever stayed in Bournemouth- next time I would avoid if possible a room in that location.

Room Tip: Be wary of inland rooms on ground floor.
