Not all hotels are equal

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 4 weeks agovia mobile
So not all hotels are equal and comparing a modern luxe hotel with here is like comparing a camel with a cat. On a few levels it is deserving of 2 or 3 stars - no lift, rustic stairs and poor lighting in the corridors, inefficient noise insulation and a view to the sea in the distance but also overlooking a convenient car park. However what it lacks it more than makes up for in soul - charming and attentive staff, Uber cool sustainable interiors, one of the best Negronis I have ever had, a perfect smoked salmon and scrambled eggs cooked in the blink of an eye, copious Bramley products, an inventive mini bar, very cool bath, one of the best showers in the world,a very comfortable and well thought out room and a vibe that is one of just welcome and be as opposed to ostentatious nonsense. It’s rustic, its relaxed, its different, its cool and its very very good

We had a fantastic time at the Artist Residence Brighton. The room was wonderful - it had a bath facing the balcony, overlooking the sea. The bed and pillows were very comfortable and the shower was great. The weather was not great while we were there - torrential rain and gales - but the room was perfect for just staying in and chilling out.

The breakfast was nice but perhaps a bit to heavy for me - lots of full English and vegetarian options - although the granola was good. I'd definitely recommend the chilli margarita.

The staff are super friendly and helpful.

Stayed for two nights but wished we'd stayed longer! Loved the art and the themed rooms. Spotlessly clean bedroom and bathroom. The room was small but the view was worth it. Breakfast was great, my daughter loved the pancakes. We'll definitely be staying again!

We had the most amazing experience . We stayed in the big room in the basement, it was like home away from home. Warm and cosy atmosphere , clean, very nice soaps and shampoos in bathrooms. The hotel itself had a boutique hotel vibe, amazing decor . There was ping pong, board games and a very nice restaurant where we had dinner. Location is 10/10, lovely views also.
Most important of all, Amber, Mediz and Abi were amazing!
Due to some unexpected riots we had to be in the hotel from 5 pm onwards on one evening. They made sure we had everything we needed including offering to go out with us to the shops to buy some medicines, as one of us became ill . ( It was not safe for us and advisable for us to stay indoors) That was a very sweet gesture showing they went out of their way for their guests. (it does not get better!)
We definitely recommend staying here.
Thank you all for an amazing stay! We will come again!

Fun and friendly. However, pretty expensive and some aspects not fully thought through. No air conditioning, shower awkward with no shelf/dry area, dingy view from window & expensive breakfast. We did enjoy the decor but it was slightly a case of style over substance.

What a joyous time we had! The Artist Residence is so well appointed (we enjoyed being able to walk everywhere) with the pleasure of a sea view ... our room was perfect with interesting, quirky choices, the bed soooo comfortable ... breakfast was very good quality with a wide selection of choices. Possibly your greatest assets in Brighton are your staff! Kind, helpful, knowledgeable ... and very charming. We'd love to visit again ... no greater recommendation.
