Fabulous Hotel But Noisy

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 5 weeks agovia mobile
Gorgeous hotel. We had a junior suite which was lovely. Sea facing room with balcony. Staff were amazing and very friendly. Made us feel very welcome.

The only negative I have, is that due to the Windows not being thar thick or double glazed, the noise from the main road kept me awake most of the night, which wasn't great.

Very nice hotel and several celebrities staying here. The breakfast is to die for which cater for all tastes.
Had a lovely sea view large room.
The staff are warm and friendly, the hotel however is quite expensive, but it was expected, excellent service including the dinners and special functions

We loved The Grand from the moment we arrived. Super warm welcome by the doorman/concierge and reception staff. Beautiful interiors. The service in the bar in the evening was excellent as were the cocktails. We booked a junior sea view suite for us and our daughter and it was fabulous. Huge and with a fantastic sea view. We loved enjoying the band from the bar opposite and watching everyone having fun down below. And no it wasn’t noisy at night!

Do note that you can’t get into your room until 4pm. We had booked direct and that wasn’t stated on our booking so it was a surprise. Also, it wouldn’t be fair not to mention that there is some renovations happening. We didn’t notice any noise until the morning when drilling started at 9am so we had to pack up and go. Annoying but wouldn’t stop us going again. It didn’t affect the amenities, bar area etc. it was just the bedrooms below our floor.

Room tip: Bar quieter from 6pm. Worth paying extra for seaview rooms as they are stunning. Parking cheaper in NCP but valet parking worth it for us.

Woken up at 8am by deafening building noise. The front desk response was a polite version of 'tough luck, go away' This shows that the Grand simply isn't a 5 star hotel, which means that the hundreds of pounds we paid for one night there was extortion. The attempt to complain after checkout was totally ignored. Don't waste your money on this.

An overnight stay whilst visiting friends for a long lunch.
Booked a basic room, but on check in we were told that you have been upgraded to The Grand Suite!
Wow - a beautiful two storey room with separate lounge and well appointed bathroom....THANK YOU
One comment on the room is that it really requires either blackout blinds /curtains as the very early morning sun streaming in didnt help with a full nights sleep even with the curtains drawn.

In the evening we had a snack and hot drinks in the lounge which were well priced and staff were excellent.

Breakfast in the large dining room was very tasty and plentiful and totally buffet.
Personally, i dont have a major problem with this but feel that at least tea and coffee could be served at the table as the machines are slow and there is a queue which means food gets cold.

Will definitely return when in Brighton

Lovely hotel, felt really special, as if my grandparents were treating me! It was such a joy to be able to use a robe I asked for from room service to take a dip in the sea. I will definitely be back.
A bonus was in our timing as it was the Brighton Fringe so we had a lot of fun going to performances.
Also Brighton is an eclectic mix and visiting the 'Lanes' was great fun.

Two things though - not sure why the bed isn't facing the view, and the bathrooms could be more special - maybe a stand alone bath in the room would really make it perfect. The bathroom is very ... average.
