Stayed here in October and check was easy and friendly. the room was very spacious and clean. we were very lucky with the weather and was sat outside in the sunshine and they had entertainment, a wonderful lady singer and acoustic guy guitar player which were brilliant!! and it was very chilled relaxed and laid back. we had a three course meal on one evening and it was absolutely superb! delicious! the breakfast was just as good with so much choice and again delicious. the only thing i can moan about was the cleaner never replaced our coffee, tea, sugar the whole time we were there. and the parking prices of £25 per day is an absolute rip off but I know that this is the norm in all of Brightons main areas but all in all we had a wonderful relaxed friendly stay and will definitely come back and will recommend to others too. Also look up the history of the Ship Hotel very fascinating

Room Tip: we upgraded to sea view which was lovely till night time as the sound level rises and can be noisy till late

I have used the Ship for many years. Over 40 in fact and so may be accused of complacency. This was shattered when my wife and I attended the 250 year celebration of the Paganini ballroom and the Dear Old Ship pulled off a staggering evening of the highest quality showcasing what a wonderful place this really is.
A modern menu yet deeply influenced by tradition, served by a well schooled team attendants who dazzled with precision whilst waiting on in the best traditions of silver service.
The lighting and sound systems , fully refurbished, were showcased to the full by a selection of what Brighton has to offer by way of entertainment. From mellow string quartet to sizzling gay voice choir , Cosmopolitan par extreme. And the food. let's just say that the chef and his colleagues fully deserved their standing ovation.
And so to bed in a warm and comfortable room overlooking the frolics of Brighton's popular night life which contrasted the calm sea of a gentle morning to follow.
what a wonderful historic and inspiring hotel this is.

As regular guests at the Old Ship hotel we were not disappointed with our recent stay.
Steve in the garage was welcoming and helpful as always and our irish waiter (sorry I forget his name) was excellent. The deluxe seaview rooms are great with a superb view. Brighton is a city that does not sleep but that is the charm of Brighton. A lively seaside town. The hotel provides earplugs if you are a light sleeper which is a great touch. The breakfast choice is great and plenty of it. Another great stay and the family who came with us all enjoyed it too. We will be back again soon.

Room Tip: Seaviews are a must

Like other people have said already, the hotel is lovely - an old fashioned charm and the staff polite. What let the stay down was the noise from outside the hotel until about 4/5am and people coming and going late and again early morning. There was an informative write up on the desk alluding to the noise levels and they provided ear plugs which didn't help. On check out - funnily, the staff didn't ask us how our stay was! As much as we loved the hotel and its quirky features, we will not be returning.

The hotel is nice, the room was too hot & the uplights from the Hotel du vin next door meant that my room when I wanted to go to sleep was not very dark. The big problem for this hotel & this is not the hotel's fault is the level of yobbo's in Brighton, I was continually woken up during the night by people shouting & swearing at each other in really really loud voices, so if you are after a good night's sleep, then avoid this central location like the plague!!

Dear philipgriffiths27,

I am sorry to learn, that your sleep was disturbed on this occasion.
These widows have latches, and if close they create a very good sound prove seal.
