Our room was at the front so we had a sea view, not often you can sit in the bath while looking at the beach! Fantastic comfortable bed with huge pillows the only downside with the room being on the front was that it was a little noisy at night.

I was in contact with the hotel before my arrival as i proposed to my girlfriend during our stay and the staff at the hotel were extremely helpful and couldn't do enough to assist with my plans.

The hotel is in a perfect location just a short walk from the pier and close enough to all the best restaurants.

I will be back!

Room Tip: Choose a room on the front so you can take a bath while watching the world go by!

We were almost put off by the website pics of this restaurant because it made the place look really crammed with tables far too close together. However - that turned out not to be the case.
Beautiful restaurant, very intimate and stylish. Food presentation was incredible and each dish very tasty. What made the evening even more enjoyable though was the personal and friendly service. From start to finish, it was quite simply above and beyond. Absolutely everyone from the cocktail bar upstairs to the actual restaurant below.
Special thanks to Stephanie, Mark and Phillip. An absolute pleasure to meet you all.
Would we go back? 100% yes.

What a fantastic find! We stayed 2 nights in August. We had a ground floor room with a sea view. The room was well equipped except for any draws to put your clothes, there were hanging spaces. The bed was very comfy with plenty of pillows. The bathroom was just a wet room, which was ok but left the toilet very wet. The staff were lovely, they couldn’t do enough for you. Breakfast was not included in the room rate. It was nice but I felt it was a little pricey, £10 for 2 poached eggs on one slice of dry of toast! We had dinner on our first night in their restaurant which was outstanding couldn’t fault it at all.

The only thing I would say is the road in front of the hotel is very busy and quite noisy well into the early hours of the morning so, if you need silence to sleep then this will be an issue.

Overall this is an excellent hotel in a grate location, which I would recommend to anyone.

Hi Samantha,

Thanks for your review and we're delighted that you enjoyed your stay and dinner in our wonderful restaurant.

There are 2 small drawers for ones' smalls next to the bed or some additional glass shelves for storing folded clothing behind the second curtained section, which also houses the in-room tea & coffee service.

Regarding breakfast, we are looking at re-writing the menus as it is evident to us that our guests are not understanding our breakfast offering. The £10 (or published price for other cooked options) is not just for the eggs on toast but includes as much as you would like from the Buffet which includes live farm yogurts, freshly baked pastries/croissants, cheese, ham, fresh fruit, homemade granola, cereals & toppings, freshly squeezed orange juice and bottomless coffee or tea. I hope you agree this represents very good value for breakfast with enough to eat that you could pretty much miss lunch! :)

Many thanks for sharing your experience with others on TripAdvisor and we hope to welcome you back very soon.

Best wishes, from The Drakes Team

We stayed 3 nights over the August bank holiday in a ground floor room which was as described. It had pretty much everything needed, including a very hairdryer, bathrobes, slippers, toiletries, and - importantly - a very comfortable bed. The only thing it lacked were shelves or drawers for clothes, there was just hanging space.
The bathroom was spacious and the wet room shower lovely.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room rate didn’t include breakfast which was just as well as it is only served till 10 am - but I dragged myself out of bed once for coffee and a yoghurt one morning before returning to sleep, and on the day of departure managed some toast before 10 also - all very good quality. It is possible to order a sandwich and coffee at a later time in the very nice bar which we did on a very rainy Sunday, again this was very good. Rooms are cleaned late (till 2pm) and a turn down service late in the evening is available too. Great location for the beach, Pier and town centre. Highly recommended.

Dear Karla,

Thank you for your lovely review of Drakes and that you loved your stay with us! I hope the rained didn't deter you too much in getting out and about in Brighton.

Next time, don't drag yourself out of bed for breakfast - we can bring it to you! Just call down before 9.45am and we'll serve you breakfast in bed on a tray! (Pure indulgence!)

We hope to welcome you back to Drakes again very soon for another lovely, restful stay in those lush bedrooms and super comfy beds!

Best wishes from The Drakes Team.

Evening did not start particularly well as the bar staff were not capable of making the cocktails on the bar list. However, the main event, the meal was very good with seating that enabled a good degree of separation to other diners and gave privacy. Food was very good.

Dear John C,

We apologise that you did not receive our usual good service at the Bar during your stay. We had a new person in training and it was a Saturday night. We trust the cocktail was to your satisfaction when it arrived and are delighted that you loved the restaurant experience.

Thank you for taking the opportunity to feedback and for the 4 star rating!

Best wishes,

The Team at Drakes
