Amazing stay. Loved it more than the Grand.

Amazing place in Brighton to stay. The perfect location, walking distance to the main strip beach and the Lanes and centre. But far enough to feel the peace and quiet.

We stayed in room 18 on the seafront at the very top. It was gorgeous listening to the sea in the morning with the window open. Loved the balcony and views from it and the free standing bath.

Really nice toiletries in the room locally made. Also homemade shortbread was a nice touch.

The staff were so lovely and helpful from start to finish. A fantastic stay that we loved, even more than The Grand where we stayed the next day after 2 nights here. Breakfast was cooked to order and the bircher muesli was dreamy!
The staff are very warm and welcoming and made us feel at home.

Oh…it’s got a 24 hour bar!!! We sadly didn’t get to use this but nice to know. The hotel is quiet and relaxed at night. We didn’t hear a thing from other guests.

Downsides?
The stairs were a bit of a killer, but equally…we knew this when we booked being top floor and no lifts. It was good for exercise!
The lack of plug sockets in the room. It could’ve done with one or two more at least, but we managed.

I wouldn’t hesitate to book room 18 again. Thanks Drakes.

Room Tip: Parking is limited, but a good price and right on the sea front.

Excellent location. Great food. Great staff. Best scrambled eggs and salmon Ive ever had. Great room with a view! They were very kind enough to upgrade our room when they heard I was about to propose to my girlfriend. They really made our stay special!

We booked this hotel primarily because of good vegan breakfast reviews. The hotel itself was lovely and staff very attentive. We had a small but nice room overlooking the seafront - lots of stairs but that was fine.

The breakfast itself was disappointing - very small portion compared to other non vegans sitting near us. I had pre ordered the week before but no one was aware of this so something was cobbled together. This included one anaemic, undercooked sausage which was inedible. I mentioned this to the server and she was very apologetic but nothing was done - no offer of a replacement. There was nothing else I could eat except toast which was dry as no alternative to butter available.

Such a shame as we’d stay here again if the food options were better. My search for a good hotel vegan breakfast in Brighton continues…

A Massive WOW.

We had a very spacious room and a great bathroom. View of the pier and sea.

Staff were always accommodating, attentive, with a genuine smile.

The ambiance was so chilled.

Breakfast was excellent kept my husband quiet 🤫

Definitely will recommend. Xxx

A quick stop in Brighton for us. Drakes seemed to be suitable option. Booked a ‘Great Room’ (#9) - sea view.
Being objective:
The good - nice staff, very clean room, parking on site, good breakfast, lovely sea and pier view.
The not so good - the room has a bath in it which knocks 3m2 out of the floor space, would be better served with a neat settee to sit on.
No comfortable seating, just a chair.
Silly ensuite set up, very wet room which rains on the toilet, basin tops, toilet paper, towels .. a bit bonkers really.
Lack of sockets especially where you might need them, no razor socket (unable to charge toothbrush), a little tea trolley but had to put the kettle on the floor on the other side of the room to plug in.
Awful windows.. single glazed sash with shutters, miserable acoustic performance, the road noise all night is appalling…. well overdue upgrade to double glazed modern sash units imho..
We went to another boutique hotel for a 2nd night….

Interesting hotel architecturally and a fabulous location right on theBrighton seafront with a view of the pier and very friendly and helpful staff on the phone when booking. We had a nice bay fronted room with a bath centre stage and views east and west. The bathroom is a wetroom which is odd. You have to remove all your toiletries first and then wipe the floors to avoid slippage. The bed was very comfortable but there is a big gap at the back where my pillows resided for most of the night. There are a couple of parking spaces at the front of the hotel but most parking is next door so you need to pull over, get out and acquire a ticket (extra cost) to display on the window. Also, despite googling in great detail it is really easy to miss this hotel when driving, there are no big signs over the door, just a lump of rock in front with the hotel name etched in perspex above. I think this may be illuminated at night but not much good in broad daylight. We booked dinner in Dilsk (reviewed separately). Overall, an air of faded grandeur. Breakfast was OK, not top notch, rather average sausage and bacon. If you're looking for boutique and something a bit different to the bigger hotel chains then this is definitely a consideration but for me I was expecting slightly more upmarket 'quirkiness' and this felt a little lacklustre.
