Charming hotel with absolutely wonderful staff.

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Aug 29, 2024via mobile
Wonderfully charming hotel in an excellent seafront location.

The entire staff were absolutely wonderful and made our stay all the better with their kind attention and their unpretentious hospitality.

The lounge bar is both elegant and comfortable and the service, excellent.

Breakfast is not to be missed with a full range of freshly prepared cooked dishes.

The only detail to be aware of is one can end up on the 4th floor and there is no elevator. There is a ‘dumb waiter’ for the luggage, but for mortals, it’s the climb! When we return, which I am sure we will, I’ll ask for a room at a lover elevation!

Thank you all for a wonderful stay!

A really lovely stay in this contemporary very comfortable hotel along the seafront in Brighton. Bright and spacious room on the third floor with all the amentities you might require for an overnight stay.

Warm and friendly team - from the receptionist to the cleaning guys and girls. Lovely full English breakfast and we paid just £148 Inc breakfast. Parking was £15 which is good value if you know Brighton.

We will be back

Having always wanted to stay at Drakes my partner booked a 2 night stay for our “babymoon”
Lovely boutique hotel but the stairs were a struggle at 35 weeks pregnant!
We were given a room on the second floor with a freestanding bath and view of the seafront. Unfortunately, due to the noise and size of the room (it was quite tiny and cramped) we were then given a room on the 4th floor (more stairs!)
Room was a much better size and quieter but view not as great being at the back of the hotel.
We had breakfast in our room each morning which was lovely. The staff we encountered were pleasant. The free parking next door was a bonus.
Overall, we had a pleasant stay.

Room tip: Be aware that the stairs are narrow and steep!

Stayed here for two nights , thoroughly enjoyed it: the staff were friendly and helpful and I got two nights of good sleep (I heard an ambulance a couple of times but I knew the hospital wasn’t too far away but I’d rather hear that than a load of beer boys singing Vindaloo at 2 in the morning): the room wasn’t massive but I had a comfortable stay: if I could have asked for anything, it would be a fridge

We had a tiny room but it was very pleasant overlooking the sea.
The restaurant is very good so it might be worthwhile staying one night if you're eating at the restaurant. The breakfast was good too. The balcony of the room was amazing as it overlooked the sea.

Room tip: You might want to consider one of the larger rooms (not on the top floor sea facing).
