The Britainnia Study Hotel is a very simple, clean hotel. I was in Room 211 and it was surprisingly spacious. The only negative was that the walls seem a little thin and you could hear the comings and goings. There are a lot of positives: the room was very cheap; it is in a great location; the room was clean; the bed was comfortable and it had a kettle and a fridge.

Room tip: Get a room on the top floors at the back - the street can be a little noisy

Stayed just for the one night, bank holiday Monday. Arrived too early to check in but this was not a problem: the gentleman on reception was most friendly and welcoming and arranged for us to leave our luggage in the storage area. Upon our return, we found the room to be fine: clean with a very comfortable bed and powerful shower and the small fridge was useful for keeping bottles of water. Fortunately the room was at the back of the hotel, so no noise from the main road at the front.
Breakfast the next morning was better that expected. i thought there would be only cereal and pastries available but there was also a cooked option.
Location is great, just across the road from the multiple restaurants of Preston Street and not too far to walk to the centre of town or the seafront. Would stay again when next in Brighton.
Be aware there is no parking on site, but the privately owned Regency Secured Parking is just a few minutes walk away.

As young adults, the hotel was perfect for us both. We got a good deal over two nights from a third party booking site, putting it amongst the cheapest hotels in town. The hotel is next to supermarkets, restaurants and just a street away from the sea front. Was only a 15 minute walk to the station, even with heavy bags. Staff were really helpful and friendly upon arrival, and continued to be so throughout. We were able to leave our luggage after checkout in a secure location, and picked it up a couple of hours later with no fuss. People do stand outside the Sainsbury’s next door, but we knew this due to prior research so we couldn’t complain.
Massive buffet breakfast with tea, coffee and juices. Staff didn’t mind us making multiple trips up for food. Good quality and we enjoyed filling our boots, and it kept us full till long into the afternoon.
Room was very clean with everything you could need including toiletries, a key safe and tea and coffee facilities. Room on first floor was warm, but understandable since the room was above the sainsbury’s next door- anyway, we just had the window wide open and the fan on which sorted the issue. Really comfy bed and, with a good tv, made it a relaxing place to rest after a day of exploring.
At the end of the day Brighton is fantastic to visit and you get back what you put in. If we intended to stay in the hotel all the time we would want more facilities, but that’s not what our trip was about. You can’t complain about the lack of facilities if you’re on a budget. For us, we just used the hotel to eat breakfast, to shower and to sleep. Brighton town fulfilled any extra needs that we could want and therefore didn’t need anything else from our hotel. There was a whole myriad of things to explore and the hotel just needed to meet our basic needs. A perfect combination of hotel and location for the pair of us.

We have tried to visit this hotel. The price was reasonable, but the the room they gave to us was very disappointing. Small, dusty, dark and after we switched heater on, it smelled like it was the first time since 100 year. We went back to the desk and asked to cancel what they did. That was positive. After switching to another hotel, our weekend in Brighton was saved. Besides of it, when raining, the location of the hotel is a problem. Nearest parking place is at least 5 minutes walk. Even no possibility to stop in the front of the hotel for a minute or so.

Was booked through a third party. Outside looks OK, even though in a busy street close to the shore it has a nice and old sign. When you enter the building, which is usually through a lot of people smoking, just ''hanging'' at the entrance day & night, you enter a very small modern looking hallway with a reception on the left side, large mirrors opposite, and a little seating area at the end. We first had to wait 20 minutes before checking in. Ad check in; we were asked a lot of personal details, which I found very intrusive. That, and you could tell where other guests came from (since the tablet generated possible answers from previous customers. Made me feel uneasy).
The room was very basic, though clean. Bed comfortable and bathroom fine. Luckily, it was not too hot: ventilator didn't work and if temperature had been worse, the room had been boiling because window couldn't be opened. Even without window, lots of outside noises incl. drilling going on outside.

Breakfast was served on the other side of the hotel, on the first floor. Buffet style. Lots of things provided for.
NO parking available. Car park in the area (NRP) charges you 30 quid over night.

Overall: nice location, tries to be appealing to general public, but doesn't succeed, keeps a hostel kind of atmosphere. Overpriced. No parking. Would appeal to students or back packers only (who don't mind the people hanging around the front door all day).
