“Wonderful Ride Along The Seafront”

Hastings Miniature Railway
Ranked #12 of 70 things to do in Hastings

The Hastings Miniature Railway is a wonderful little ride along the seafront that will take you from the Adventure Golf to the East Hill Cliff lift and back if you buy a return ticket. They have a collection of nine engines that make the mile long journey along the seafront that will allow you to see some of the many attractions to enjoy on a day out to Hastings. We parked near the Adventure Golf and play area, took the train to the East Hill Cliff lift and back again. Getting off we wondered round the Old Town shops and the moored boats and smoke houses that form such a distinctive feature of the seafront. There you can buy freshly caught fish or enjoy ready to eat seafood. You may also want to walk back along the promenade to have a look at the many stalls and huts selling freshly caught seafood or enjoy some of the amusements dotted along the seafront. Staff were very friendly, approachable and keen to answer questions and let us take photos of the engines and boys sitting in the carriages. If you enjoy your steam or petrol run engines then you’ll love this attraction and is well worth the price. Look out for the wonderful turntable at the end of the line as staff turn the engines round for the return trip.

This is a fun little train. Front the seafront it passes through the fishermen's huts where they sell their fish to the East Hill Lift. Great for young and old alike.

Always a family choice on any day, and if I was a millionare, I would make a sheltered ride up to Hastings Pier. The train is kept in pristine looks and working order, but they could do with a sign advertising their minature railway in Hastings Park. The Park train was wonderful at Halloween with families queing up in November to grab a ride. Colin and Lynda

The Hastings Miniature Railway is a fantastic idea for both Adults and Children. That being said, Adults have a bit harder time fitting on the train, but its a good attraction. It would be good if the opening hours were longer and if they could extend this to the pier. This would then be one of the main attractions of Hastings and would get a lot of income in.
