Description: Here at Maggie's we're in our third decade of serving you hearty portions of the freshest fish, cooked to order, in a warm and welcoming cafe - the same traditional family-friendly approach as when Margaret Banfield first put her name above the door. We're right on the Fisherman's Beach - so you'll enjoy some spectacular views while you tuck in to our fish, direct from the market below us and our specials are straight off the boats with the morning catch - keeping a carbon footprint of less than 20 miles. You can't get fresher than that! Maggie's is licensed too, so you can enjoy a glass of wine or a beer with your meal. We are open six days a week, but it's advisable to call us ahead to reserve your table, and if you've got a special occasion, we welcome parties of up to 40 guests.

Beautifully cooked chips. Perfectly cooked haddock. What more do you want? Friendly staff - tick. Sea view - tick.

But do make a reservation

There is no shortage of Fish and Chip options in Hastings but as a long time visiter I can tell you that this is the best. Terrific views over the beach and fishing boats, great uber fresh fish and chips and mushy peas fit for a king! Service is friendly and efficient, it feel very homely and personal. A must for your Hastings visit. Remember to book

We have been coming to this fish and chip restaurant for several years on days out at Hastings.
You need to book and check the the times open. Its different and a reserved table seat will offer views of the fishing fleet. The specialty is fish and catch of the day may be available from the fleet.
Staff well mannered, well presented and will offer recommendations.
Classic British food well prepared. Expensive Charged Private Parking is available close by. The seagulls may rest on your car roof, and leave a package!
The restaurant has considerable timber steps up to it and limited toilet space and people with invalidity needs should check.

We hadn't booked but were lucky to get a table even though it was near the end of a wintry Wednesday lunchtime. I chose the catch of the day which was locally sourced skate in a deliciously light and crisp batter. The café is on the upper floor of a shed and overlooks the working boats and the sea. A special word of praise for the friendly staff!
