Sightseeing in Rye with no knowledge of the eating places there, we came across the Hope Anchor Hotel and spotted at the front entrance the menu for The Dandelion Restaurant "Moules Mariniere" , a favourite dish of mine so we ventured in. What a great decision! The mussels were perfectly cooked and served, the bread freshly baked and the main of roast beef delicious. We were served by the manager and complimented him on his service and the great restaurant he was running.

The Dandelion Restaurant is linked to the Hope Anchor Hotel at the very top of Rye. It offers a very chic restaurant with a limited but very special menu. Starters included dishes such as pate, soup, moules, or salads while the main courses ranged from ribeye steak and chips, through Romney Marsh lamb and on to Spanish fish stew and vegetarian aubergine and couscous. The desserts were well balanced and delicious (poached pear with sorbet plus many others - yum). Tables are well spaced and the room combines nautical and Italianate design. The view from the windows is stunning. Our waitress was excellent and made a perfect balance between efficient service and responding to the humour of our (affable) group. The chef met our requests to adjustments to the dishes (thin cut steak and gentle spice) and the food was well presented and superb. [This venue is in an old building with many stairs, so not wheelchair friendly]. We have visited before and chose this as our venue for a special dinner with friends after a day in the area. We were not disappointed and will certainly return.

I booked a special anniversary meal for myself and my hubby. Wanted to try somewhere new but local and a friend recommended the dandelion restaurant. They were right to recommend upon arriving we were seated quickly and offered drinks, within minutes we were given a glass of prosecco and congratulated on our anniversary, I must have mentioned this on the booking and it was noted! Was a lovely surprise and little personal things like this make for a superior experience. The food was absolutely first class and not too expensive, service was fantastic, we were not left waiting at all and staff very attentive. views are stunning. I have since decided to book a work do there and they have really gone out of their way to accommodate this group of rowdy ladies. They have a private function room too so it's nice that we won't disturb the other diners and can really let our hair down, looking forward to this next week. All in all blown away on every level. Highly recommend this place all round.

Went to try the restaurant for mid week dinner, it seems it's been taken over by new management!
We were very impressed.
The food was of great quality and reasonably priced,
Delicious flavours to say the least!
And beautifully presented.
The staff were all so friendly and welcoming.
Will be returning very soon and definitely recommending!!!
