“FANTASTIC! Cosy & right in the heart of historic Rye.”
Reviewed January 8, 2016 for a stay in January 2016

A lovely place to stay at the quiet end of Rye's High Street - with a warm welcome from Sally & Mich who live next door at number 44-&-a-half. The 2 double beds are very comfy (NB mind your head on the lovely-but-low half-timbered ceilings!) and the place has been modernised very well, by Sally: a very sensitive conversion of a historic property. It also functions very well in modern terms & though the kitchen is small, we cooked most of our meals there for 4 days with ease (though the Fish'n'Chips 4 doors up the hill, beyond the old-school pub are top-notch!) The fireplace in the centre of the house is very cosy too. Highly recommended.

“Lovely Cottage in centre of Rye”
Reviewed September 26, 2015 for a stay in September 2015

A lovely cottage slap bang in the middle of Rye. We were very spoilt as we live in a village and it was a real novelty to have shops, bars and restaurants within walking distance. Cottage was lovely, felt very homely. Would recommend it. Rye itself and surrounding countryside absolutely gorgeous. We were fascinated by the marshes. There is a great walk at Rye Harbour through a nature reserve. You can have a smaller walk or a longer one if you wish. Just so much to see and do. Great for Benson fans! So much history. We were surprised at how unspoilt parts of Kent and Sussex were! Car park literally 2 minute walk from cottage. Very cheap car park. Everything was easily accessible. Very good supermarket opposite station.

“Lovely part of the old town. Nice quirky apartment.”
Reviewed September 12, 2015 for a stay in September 2015

Good to park in the rope walk carpark £1.50 for 24 hours - shortcut alley feet away from the apartment. Can unload opposite flat. I used a sat nav to the apartment but would have liked directions to the car park from the apartment as I got lost after dropping off stuff.
Get free street map asap- everyone kept asking directions because I always looked as if I knew where I was going! I picked one up from a cafe after I left the car park.
Lovely little restaurant called the union steakhouse on East street. Fab staff and chef.
Nice shops on high street.
Enjoyed a trip to the little cinema - Kino in Lion St.

Was unsure as to whether fire starter stuff was provided, but just used the bit that was left to have a little blaze.
Could do with the WI FI password being added to the TV sheet as had to hunt for it in the information book.
Very pleasant feeling to the accommodation.

Thanks for this informative review, it's really helpful to provide future guests with feedback like this. The car parking directions are on the website but there should also have been a map in the hallway with directions showing how to get there - but it's possible it had disappeared! - we were away so couldn't check.

We appreciate your practical suggestions, and will laminate the parking map and FIX it to something! and will also add the wifi password as you suggest. Really glad you have a good time, and hope to see you again sometime.

“Nice place - couldn't be more central”

Stayed for ten days in June. Very nice family run holiday let. Very central indeed. In the heart of old Rye. Can get a little noisy on saturday night with bands playing at nearby pubs, but that's to be expected when staying in the centre of the action. Though the noise wasn't that bad, certainly not rowdy - Rye attracts friendly, family crowds - and the charm and convenience of the place certainly makes up for it.

We were very happy with our choice of accomodation. We had a lovely time here and would defniitely recommend it to other travellers.

Sally and her team do a good job with the place, it feels very cared for, very homely, and the roaring log fire is a real treat to come back to after a good day out exploring.

“Fantastic location”
Reviewed August 9, 2015 for a stay in August 2015

We loved our time in Rye and are missing it! The accommodation was good with its quirky fireplace, comfy beds, spacious bathroom, well-stocked kitchen and washer-dryer. It is clean and has everything needed for a week's stay. As a twilight owl, I like to go to bed late and get up late, but the seagulls were a good natural alarm clock and ensured I got out of bed early and made the most of my day! They are rather vocal but I grew rather fond of them - we enjoyed bird watching from the top window and even heard an owl one night. We enjoyed looking at the stars from the top window too, which aren't half as visible where we live. The pub next door but one, 'The Standard Inn' (Est. 1420) is fantastic with a fab atmosphere and excellent food and well worth a visit or two for some delicious salt marsh lamb in the back restaurant room. Also, Ypres Castle and the adjacent Ypres pub is well worth visiting. There is parking nearby for only £1.50 a day and a little ginnel nearby allows people a short cut to the supermarket and car park just outside the medieval centre. Rye is beautiful with white washed pristine cottages and town houses, and the location of this property makes it easy to explore the many picturesque streets during the day and evening while meandering along the cobbles towards one of the many pubs and restaurants for an evening meal. Visiting Rye for one day does not do it justice - it is far better to stay in the centre and be able to appreciate it over several days. We enjoyed very special hot chocolate at Knoops by the Landgate even though is was 23 degrees ... well worth it. Nearby Winchelsea is a must and quiet Rye Harbour is also well worth a visit. Even though we live quite a distance away, we will consider returning! Thank you, Sally for great base to explore this wonderful town.

“Great place to stay in a fantastic location with very freindly hosts”

My wife and I stayed in the Quarter House with another couple and we had a great time. The facilities were very good and the location was perfect. The only point that I would say is that the kitchen is very small and with more than one person in the area made it feel very cramped! Other than that we were all very pleased and really enjoyed our time at the Quarter House. Sally and Mich were friendly and very accommodating and relaxed which was very much appreciated. Would definitely stay here again.

Thank you for this nice review! We are aware that the kitchen is what a website might call "compact"…! But we have kitted it out with everything we think our guests might like, so there had to be a little compromise in terms of space. We are glad you enjoyed your stay with us, and hope to welcome you again.

“Cosy and warm in a fantastic location!”
Reviewed December 28, 2014 for a stay in December 2014

We stayed at the Quarter House on Boxing Day for a mini break.

After some initial technical difficulties with the booking prices, Sally was kind enough to offer us an early check in.

Apartment is quaint, with all mod cons like DVD and microwave (though no freezer compartment if you're staying a bit longer).

Fire was very welcome and logs were available when we asked. Jacuzzi was a lovely treat too.

Location fantastic and friendly owners just downstairs if you have any problems.
