“Lovely Cottage In Town”
Reviewed August 9, 2018 for a stay in July 2018

Perfect "little" cottage for a nice weekend getaway. A very easy walk into town and a very safe location. On-site parking, WiFi, and laundry is a big plus! Kitchen was fully equipped and home was extremely comfortable. We enjoyed eating breakfast and playing games outdoors in both the front and back patios. Owner had a very detailed property guide which was extremely helpful during our stay. We cannot wait to return!

“Another fantastic stay at Weir Cottage - 5*”

Having stayed for a long weekend over Easter 2017, we couldn't wait to return - but this time for a full week. We stayed at the end of the Easter school holidays 2018, and the property is still as good as new since our visit last year.

It really is a lovely cottage, and as everyone have also mentioned in their reviews, it is literally a few minutes walk along the river to the centre. Bourton-on-the-Water is an idyllic place to stay, with lots of interesting museums, pubs/restaurants/tea rooms etc, as well as country walks. Even though we visited them all last year, the boys were keen to revisit them which was lovely.

We were lucky to have some very warm weather, and my two boys loved wading through the river, along with many other children!

What is also really lovely about this cottage is that the kitchen is so well equipped - it really is like home from home. Small touches such as teabags, sugar, and various other foody items such as vinegar etc are provided. Kitchen roll, foil, plenty of tea towels and wash provisions are provided etc etc, so there's no need to take your washing up liquid, rubber gloves etc! AND you get plenty of dishwasher tablets (and quality toilet rolls!!) to last you a full week.... most places we have stayed at will only provide 2 or 3 and so you have to remember to take your own. This may not be important to some, but I just think that small touches like this go a long way and make this cottage absolutely fabulous. (And your packing far less items to take with you!)

Even the towels provided are super thick and luxurious - and from The White Company - another luxurious touch. Liquid soap in both bathrooms and the kitchen are also provided - another provision that we didn't need to take.

Sarah, the owner, is truly wonderful and very accommodating with great communication. And through this review, we would like to thank her for another fantastic stay.

Would I still recommend this property? Most definitely.

When we next visit Bourton-on-the-Water, we won't hesitate to book this superb cottage again.

We recently stayed at Weir Cottage with our two teenage children for a mdweek break and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cottage was immaculate, the decor was beautiful throughout, it complimented the cottage perfectly and all to a very high standard!!

The cottage is perfectly located with the heart of the village only being a 2 minute walk away and there are plenty of restaurants and country pubs to choose from should you want to eat out.

We look forward to coming back to the Cotswolds and Weir cottage in the near future. Definitely highly recommend this beautiful cottage.

Booked this cottage for a weekend break to see local friends. Perfect location just a short walk from the heart of the village.

Beautiful decor, perfectly clean and even better than the pictures. Lovely welcoming touches... the owner really had thought of everything. We will return.

We were so pleased to receive your wonderful review on Weir Cottage and to hear that you appreciated all the special touches we have made to enable Weir Cottage to keep that edge of luxury.

With regard to your points, I previously lived in the cottage myself for over 20 years, and being 5'9, I can honestly say that I've not found the ceiling height a problem. Those visitors above 6 ft tall tended to stand between the beams in the sitting room! However, we do advise guests to use the back conservatory door until they are accustomed to the low entry height of the entrance room. As you say it just adds to the character of the cottage.

With regard to the pots and pans, I am a keen cook and hope that i have supplied everything that is needed. If there is something lacking please do let me know as I am continually tweaking the itinerary. At present there are 4 Saucepans; 1 large, a non stick frying pan as well as a griddle pan. There are 2 hardy earthenware ovenproof dishes, 3 white rectangle oven to tableware dishes and I've just added a Le Cruset Casserole pot this week. I'll contact you under separate email and see if there are any extras you think we should purchase

Thank you again for all your lovely comments we do hope you will visit again and recommend us to all your family and friends.

“Perfect country cottage, perfect location.”

We came back to Bourton for a half term break with our 2 children, aged 3 and 5. The cottage is larger than it appeared from the photos but very cosy. It's very clean and well equipped. The cottage is nicely furnished and beautifully decorated retaining much of its character, low beams and doors and an open fire. It's well heated even in the very chilly week we were there so using the fire is optional and not a requirement. The gardens and grounds are well kept and would be great for summer.

A welcoming bottle of wine on arrival is a nice touch and appreciated.

Parking is ideal and had no problem even with our larger than standard car (the gate is deceptively wider then you think). The cottage is 2 mins from the main area of the village so perfect for little legs to walk even after a long day. The river is opposite and makes for a nice stroll into the village while feeding the ducks.

The cottage is ideal for a relaxing break in a beautiful village for couples or families. This is our second time to Bourton and it is a place we are likely to return to again and Weir Cottage will be top of the list of places we will try for accommodation.
