“Fantastic place to stay!”
Reviewed July 22, 2015 for a stay in July 2015

This cottage is strategically located and situated very close to the river and the town. The place is very clean and comfortable. Hilary, the owner takes care of all the details to ensure our stay is pleasant and all basic essentials are provided. Breakfast bars, biscuits, milk, bread..... Including wine was provided.

Our family of 4 adults have stayed in many home stays and this is definitely one of the tops and highly recommended.

“Excellent Stay”
Reviewed July 17, 2015 for a stay in June 2015

Location is perfect! Parking on the street was convenient. Enjoyed the food items they provided when we arrived. Ice Cream shop just 3 minutes away. Loved having fresh baked items (still warm) from the bakery (8 minutes away) out in the courtyard with all of the beautiful flowers. Good communications during booking, confirmation, and the stay. We will be sure to stay at Lavender Cottage next time!

“We Loved, Loved Lavender Cottage”
Reviewed July 16, 2015 for a stay in July 2015

Lavender Cottage is charming and ideally situated just steps from the village green (the river, shops, restaurants). It is quiet, secluded and surrounded by beautiful gardens. The hosts really go out of their way to make your stay comfortable and pleasant -- everything from bread, butter, jams, coffee and milk to books, board games and DVDs. There were welcome surprises waiting for our kids on each of our beds. In fact, our kids loved the cottage so much that we had a hard time getting them out to go sightseeing. This was our favorite vacation by far and we wish we had scheduled more time here.

“Quaint Cottage in Beautiful Location”
Reviewed July 14, 2015 for a stay in June 2015

Our stay at Lavender Cottage was everything we had hoped for. From the minute we stepped inside we felt at home. The cottage itself is super cute with low beams, steep winding stairs and sloping floors. The kitchen and bathroom modernisation have been very tastefully carried out and add to the quaint character. We must thank the hosts for the wonderful stocking of the cupboards upon our arrival. From the fresh loaf of bread to the bottle of wine and everything in between. If we hadn't arrived with our own supplies I think we could have easily survived for a day. Even the draw of tin foil and cling wrap came in handy. Compared to all the cottages we stayed in, these were the best stocked cupboards for sure. The fresh flowers were a lovely homely touch...thank you. The hosts had thought of absolutely everything. The cottage is a 30 second walk to the stream and 3 minutes to the centre of the village. But it is far enough away to be very peaceful and quiet. The little village of Bourton is like a chocolate box scene. It is so picturesque. The tourist busses do arrive in the morning but fortunately by 5pm they have all left and the village returned to its sleepy little self. This was a great time to visit the pubs and have a stroll around the cute little lanes. We found the village an ideal spot for visiting places of interest further afield, namely Warwick Castle, Stratford-on-Avon and Blenheim Palace, which made a nice day trip. We did a couple of walks across the fields to neighbouring villages and two we could recommend were Lower and Upper Slaughter and the one to Rissington. Maps and directions to these can be found in the well stocked "what to do" section in the sitting room bookcase.
Before deciding where to stay, I checked reviews on trip advisor and am pleased to say that i second all the positive comments. We would certainly recommend this cottage and location to anyone wanting to experience the quintessential England. Hopefully one day we will bill able to return to this beautiful part of the world and this cute little cottage.

“An outstanding experience a holiday highlight for us”
Reviewed July 5, 2015 for a stay in June 2015

We highly recommend this outstanding holiday accommodation. Situated in the extraordinary Cotswolds, a location that really should be visited in England. Hilary leaves no stone unturned. Milk, wine, bread, butter, juice, spreads, cereal, washing powder, cd's, dvd's reading material, maps, suggested sites to see and eat and much more. spotlessly clean, ideally located, comfortable, warm and quirky. I really cant rave enough about Lavender Cottage at Bourton on the water. Don't hesitate to book it if you are lucky and its available.

“Amazing cottage, best location, perfect holiday!”
Reviewed July 4, 2015 for a stay in June 2015

We stayed in Lavender cottage at the end of June for a week with our one year old son. The cottage was very well equipped for young children with a high chair, baby bath, travel cot, changing mat and more! Hilary, the owner, could not be more hospitable. She helped with all my questions and left the cottage well stocked for us with all the essentials as well as presents for us and our son! Overall you can not beat the location of this cottage. It is in the most picturesque location, right by the village green and river and very close to all the attractions. The cottage itself is gorgeous with all the amenities you could want for your stay. I would recommend this cottage to anyone as it would suit couples and families. We will definitely be returning as we had a wonderful holiday there!

Reviewed June 30, 2015 for a stay in June 2015

The cottage is simply amazing. Has charm and character. That is exactly what we are looking for when we decided to book a cottage. Living area is very cosy with a fire place and comfortable sofas. The master bedroom is on the second floor with a king bed and the twin bedroom is up on the attic. Kids simply enjoyed the feeling of playing and sleeping there. There is one toilet shared by all, and its on the floor ( like a mezzanine ) in between the second floor and attic. Very convenient for all guests to access. The toilet is big, with lots of space for hanging towels, putting personal items etc. and comes with a standing shower with good water pressure. Shower cream and shampoo are also provided, plus toilet rolls etc. You will not be worried about running out of anything. The entire cottage is very clean, spotless I must say. We travelled as a family of 4, with 2 young boys. It feels like a home away from home with everything provided for in the kitchen too. We did not have to rush out to the nearest supermarket to stock up the fridge. Milk, bread, cereal, sauces, juices, clean filtered water in a jug prepared, snacks for kids, herbs for cooking, jam spreads, a range of teas and coffees, hot chocolate etc, many are newly bought just for us. I can't even begin to count everything that Hilary, the owner has provided for our stay. There was so much stuff to eat and use and she has been very generous with treating her guests that stay here. Every thought has been put in to make guests feel comfortable and to just enjoy the holiday. Definitely better than a hotel and much more equipped too. There is a washing cum dryer machine in the kitchen which is perfect for doing laundry, especially when travelling with young kids. Washing detergent is provided too. Plus other essential kitchen stuff which probably are more well stocked than my own home!! Even laundry nets are available and an extra clothes drying rack. We are totally impressed with the service level of this cottage. We even had a welcome pack of two Lego sticker books for our kids as Hilary knows we will be proceeding to Legoland after our stay at Bourton-On-The-Water. Nice touch and surprise there. In terms of location of the cottage, it is perfect in every sense too. Its less than a five minute walk to town. It is actually in a quiet corner of the main town. So there are no lack of restaurants, cafes ( try the cream tea scones ), shops for tourists etc and a big Londis supermarket. We did not have to drive but walked everywhere as the town is rather small. The main attractions of Bourton-On-The-Water are also within walking distance. So the cottage is really ideal as a place to chill and take in the great atmosphere of this little town. My kids love to feed the ducks along the river windrush every morning. Its bustling, but not crowded and its simply THE PERFECT PLACE TO BE IN. We will return!

Thank you so much for taking the time to post this detailed review of Lavender Cottage & Bourton-on-the-Water. I realise that living floors are given different names in different countries, so I should point out for our UK guests that the king-size bedroom & the shower room are on the 1st floor and the twin bedroom is on the 2nd floor. I'm pleased that you all enjoyed your stay & the respite it gave you from city living! We'll look forward to seeing you next time you visit England.
