“A fabulous time in a wonderful setting!”
Reviewed November 26, 2015 for a stay in November 2015

You may think we were mad chosing England as our winter holiday destination this November, but we had a plan and stuck to it and we really couldn't have been more happy!

Bourton on the water is simply beautiful and neither the rain nor the cold could change this, in fact I would go as far as to say that it added to this wonderful cottage experience. Lavender cottage was so charming, a place where upon arrival you instantly feel like you are at home. Warm and characterful the cottage boasts period features throughout but without losing its practicality. A modern bathroom and kitchen with everything you need makes life easy and the genrous size bed sends you off like a light.

We decided to not take a car with us for the week and this ended up working well for us. Upon arrival at Kingham station we were greated by the lovely Hilary! After hearing lots about her from other guest reviews and speaking with her over e-mail (extremely quick and helpful responces from start to finish) we knew that we were in safe hands and we weren't dissapointed, she is so lovely!

Our week was about food and walking really so I did my research and mapped out our evenings out before arriving. The Wheatshef in Northleach is a must, a little on the pricey side but if you are expecting it and what somewhere nice to visit then look no further. The Horse and Groom in Bourton on the Hill was much anticipated but ended up being a real dissapointment, maybe we got a bad night but the food was bland and the service was shoddy. If you are looking for a very special experience then venture over to Winchcombe and book a table at 5 North Street, this is one of the best meals I have ever had!

So to summerise, if you are looking for a cotswold getaway then look no further than this beautiful cottage. Location is spot on and you are guarenteed to be looked after in the most spledid way. From what I gather thought the summer months get extremely busy so book early to not be dissapointed.

Thank you for your kind words - and for the home-cooked treats you supplied for us. I'm so pleased that the traditional English weather didn't spoil your stay here. We'll look forward to seeing you again when you feel the need to escape from the city.

“A lovely stay”
Reviewed November 6, 2015 for a stay in November 2015

We had a lovely few days at Lavender Cottage, the wine, baby food and other treats on arrival was a very kind gesture.
We found the cottage very welcoming and had everything we needed for a few days away, the cottage was well equipped with baby essentials such as a travel cot, highchair and bath which was very useful to save space in our car bringing all that!
The location is fantastic, just a few minutes stroll to the river and local shops and tea rooms. Would highly recommend Smiths tea room for afternoon tea or high tea.
Our only issue was both being over 6foot in a cottage with a few low beams, we had a few bumps to the head! But this didn't take away any of the charm of the lovely cosy cottage and it was a lovely break for us with our young baby.

Thank you for sharing your experience of Lavender Cottage. I'm pleased that the bumps didn't spoil your time here. Old cottages are quaint, but not very practical for tall people, I'm afraid. I'm glad you enjoyed the location, close to the centre of our beautiful village.

“outstanding”
Reviewed October 25, 2015 for a stay in October 2015

My Husband & I wanted somewhere special to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary, we certainly found it! Lavender Cottage felt like home as soon as we arrived, and we had a very relaxing break. Hilary had thought of everything, red roses, chocolates, a card & Bubbly to celebrate with. The cupboards and fridge were also stocked with very useful essentials to get us on our way.
We were a stone throw from the centre but Lavender cottage is in a very secluded little area.would definitely go back! Thank you very much

“Lovely cottage - perfect location”
Reviewed October 15, 2015 for a stay in October 2015

We have just returned from a three day stay at Lavender Cottage. The cottage is perfectly located, it is about 100 yards from the main road but is tucked away and extremely quiet. It is very well equipped, the owners appear to have thought of everything and were very kind in providing us with plenty of provisions such as milk, bread, tea, coffee etc., they also left us a bottle of wine and some beers for my birthday celebration. Bourton-on-the-Water is a lovely place with nice pubs, restaurants and tea-rooms. The surrounding Cotswolds villages are also a delight to visit.

We will certainly return for another visit and hope to stay at Lavender Cottage again. We will also recommend it to our friends.

“Perfect place for perfect holidays”
Reviewed September 21, 2015 for a stay in August 2015

Lavender Cottage was absolutely perfect.
It was our second visit to the area and we were really impressed by the high standards offered.
It was clear that Hilary and Alistair have thought about everything you could possibly need to make the stay perfect in any sense.
The cottage is equiped with more than the essentials, nothing is missed...and so clean!
Great selection of movies, cds, maps, suggested sites to see and eat, books, and games...kids loved the basket full of legos to play with.
It was such a nice treat to find presents on their beds!.
Fridge really well stocked and even the bathroom, with shower gel, body lotion
The extras were great, and marked the difference, but the essentials...wow!...fluffy towels, comfy beds, nice shower.
The cottage is located in a quite spot just next to the main street within two minutes walk of the centre of Bourton and all its restaurants and amenities.
Definitely a wonderful place to stay and dicover the beautiful Cotswolds.
