We were looking forward to experiencing all that we had read about this restaurant. The food certainly didn't dissapoint. Some wonderful little amuse bouch items. Everything beautifully presented flavours in abundance. Very good. Its In a very unexpected property, which doesn't necessaceraly look like a restaurant, probably it looks like it was once a small public house because of its frontage. Allow time for parking if you are driving, as some restricted parking in the area. Once inside it's simply decorated and maybe lacking a little atmosphere. The service was cordial and efficient ( just one young member of staff who had a very bombastic way of delivering our champagne and food. Shame) But all in all a very nice anniversary lunch. Might go again if in the area.

We had a wonderful meal which lasted several hours. They don't have a tasting menu like a lot of fine dining places do but we had lots of amuses bouche and extras so that it felt like we did. the pigs trotter with snails particularly is gorgeous. the staff are really lovely and friendly and timed the whole meal perfectly so it didn't feel rushed or too slow. It did seem more like a 1 star than a 2 star Michelin but we didn't mind as we thought it was good value for money and we loved the non stuffy atmosphere.

We were lucky enough to have a gift voucher for the restaurant and booked for an evening dinner.........
What a treat was in store, and we enjoyed a wonderful and unforgettable evening.
We found the daily menu to our liking and both had the beef ravioli starter and Hake main, with carrot cake and soft cheese ice cream to finish: they were all exceptional. Before that we had been treated to delicious canapés, a swede based amuse bouche and a magnificent bread selection.
Choosing from the extensive wine list was a pleasure, and the house champagne by the glass was lovely and dry.
Service was impeccable - we felt well looked after, in timely and not rushed fashion - and we found the ambiance very much to our liking, without the piped music that spoils many other restaurants. The décor is tasteful, the cutlery old and stylish French silver, which all suits the theme of this excellent Michelin Two Star restaurant.

David, Helen and their kitchen and front office brigades made our special family gathering evening a great experience. Impeccable service and creative dishes as always. Their dedication in the Restaurant business cannot be reached by any other patrons. When you dine at Le Champignon Sauvage you know that David will be kitchen preparing your dish and Helen will ensure service is of the highest order. The fact that David hasn't missed one service in just over 30 years of business is evidence of his commitment to the restaurant and customers. Thank you to everyone who made our evening :)

I brought my wife here for her birthday celebration. Everything about this place speaks quality and sophistication, but in a relaxed and quite setting.

The surprises started when I booked. Having said it was a birthday celebration, they immediately asked if I'd like a glass on Champagne upon arrival. The answer was Yes, and that was the start of a lovely experience.

We arrived, and were welcomed. When we announced who we were my wife got an immediate "Happy Birthday". No song and dance, just quiet and respectful.

The food was fantastic. The wine list reasonably priced and very well stocked. The service was excellent. In fact, there was absolutely nothing I could fault them on.

A truly wonderful experience. And whilst the bill was significant, it was certainly one of the best value for meals we have had.
