We visited for my husband's 50th Birthday.
He received a sincere "Happy Birthday" upon our arrival.
The lounge was quite busy so we went straight through to the dining room. The atmosphere suited me, it's quite but not reverential so we felt comfortable having a normal conversation. The room is carpeted so the acoustics were very nice.
Every single course and extra was a delight. We had the A la carte menu. Choosing starters of lobster and scallops, mains of venison and for dessert a blueberry and sorrel canneloni and a chocolate and pistachio dessert. The flavours of each were amazing and I loved the extras of amuse bouche, pre main, pre dessert and petit.fours.
We are not used to such fine dining but we are adventurous with our tastes and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
Almost looking forward to my 50th to do it again!

Went on a snowy night when there were understandably quite a few no shows. So quiet but still a nice atmosphere and fresh and clean dining room decoration.

Excellent service from drinks to leaving. Have recently been to a very good 1 star and would say the difference is the 1 star is trying to grab attention, however here the Chef is very confident in his food and his classic approach was superb on every course. Faultless food and service.

Very well priced wine list means its not overly expensive for such a superb meal.

This restaurant is a delight when it comes to food, service and ambience. It is all about quality and providing a memorable experience for the guests. The food is French classic and so delicious, remarkable especially considering its long history and providing that consistency over years. The service is personal and very attentive. We were also impressed that the price for lunch and for the wines was more than reasonable considering its quality.. A fabulous restaurant, a rare find where everything comes together so nicely!

We were looking forward to experiencing all that we had read about this restaurant. The food certainly didn't dissapoint. Some wonderful little amuse bouch items. Everything beautifully presented flavours in abundance. Very good. Its In a very unexpected property, which doesn't necessaceraly look like a restaurant, probably it looks like it was once a small public house because of its frontage. Allow time for parking if you are driving, as some restricted parking in the area. Once inside it's simply decorated and maybe lacking a little atmosphere. The service was cordial and efficient ( just one young member of staff who had a very bombastic way of delivering our champagne and food. Shame) But all in all a very nice anniversary lunch. Might go again if in the area.

We had a wonderful meal which lasted several hours. They don't have a tasting menu like a lot of fine dining places do but we had lots of amuses bouche and extras so that it felt like we did. the pigs trotter with snails particularly is gorgeous. the staff are really lovely and friendly and timed the whole meal perfectly so it didn't feel rushed or too slow. It did seem more like a 1 star than a 2 star Michelin but we didn't mind as we thought it was good value for money and we loved the non stuffy atmosphere.
