“Beautiful and relaxing”
Reviewed August 14, 2015 for a stay in July 2015

A wonderful stay at Forest Lodge. Very clean and full of mod cons. The only negatives we could say is we missed having a kitchen sink and having to go outside in the rain to use the microwave. Also getting in/out of lodge to car can be difficult after a rainfall due to water going into a stream effect which has to be crossed.

Apart from this we loved it and wouldn't hesitate to go back .. The above negatives were tiny and humourous part of the holiday in the end .. No grumbles, and Paul was really helpful.

Glad you had a brilliant time and enjoyed your stay Lynsey and hope to see you again. There is a sink and washing up bowl in the lodge if you really don't wish to use the 30 minute cycle top of the range dishwasher. There's also a gravel path to the side from the car park, so you don't have to cross the stream all set out in the welcome pack.

“Everything but the kitchen sink!”
Reviewed August 12, 2015 for a stay in August 2015

Great little compact lodge in a fantastic location. Furnished and decorated to a high standard. We enjoyed seeing wandering ponies, donkeys and cows wandering through the green in front of the lodge everyday. Fantastic surrounding walks and pubs. We were delighted the owner allowed us to bring our dog who absolutely loved the experience!
It was lovely to relax in the hot tub after a day's adventures.
Although clearly stated in the description, the incomplete kitchen could potentially be a challenge, especially in bad weather, to cook as it meant cooking outside.
We experienced a few other niggly problems with the shower, like it was stuck on very very hot and the rainbow lights didn't work but it wasn't worth making a fuss over, we probably should've given the price we paid!
All in all, we had a fabulous family holiday here & I would recommend to all.

“Wonderful location, some drawbacks”

Forest Corner Lodge is beautifully located in New Forest NP. It is quiet, has a very nice porch and a great hot tub. The bedrooms are small, but the bedding is excellent, the entertainment system is perfect. So everything could be just five-star-perfect... if there were not some drawbacks.

To get to the Lodge you have to walk through the garden of Forest Corner House (a bigger property also rented out by the same owner). You will have to walk past their living room window, cross their veranda and pass by their hot tub. But that should be worse for them than for you. At least the porch and hot tub of the Lodge enjoy perfect privacy.

What really is making life in the Lodge difficult is the absolute absence of kitchen appliances.
There is no running water, no sink, no hob, no oven - just a toaster and a kettle. The water for the kettle has to be taken from the sink in the toilet, the dishwasher, a mini oven and microwave are in a shed across the porch with no roof over your head, very nice in bad weather. Strange thing is that you still can see that there used to be a sink and a hob in the kitchen and the microwave also used to be inside the house, so why the owner decided to make a perfect situation bad is beyond us...
We could not use the dishwasher for the whole week. The water did not heat, so the cold water did not clean the dishes. The owner took a look at the dishes and stated they were clean enough. After a second complaint he called a service technician, who was not willing to have a look at a dishwasher in a shed during the rain (quite understandable). So he returned the next (dry) day and found out that a rodent has chewed through a cable, which resulted in us having neither a dishwasher or a sink for a whole week. Luckily the pub nearby (Alice Lisle) offers excellent food...

If you rent the Lodge together with the House everything should be just perfect, if you rent the Lodge alone we would not reccomend it.

The lodge has its own access at the front and is totally private as is the Lodge hot tub, no one walks past. The bedrooms have 2 king size beds (or 1 king and 2 twin beds), wardrobes and 3D TV's as well as tables and sound systems, windows, sky lights and central heating radiators, we like 99% of our guess think they are absolutely fine and proportional to the rest of the lodge.

These particular guests were not happy before they arrived so were intent on leaving a less than fair review compared to all the other guest reviews received. Below is the message sent to the guest well before they arrived. They broke the TV (repaired within a day of the damage) and then left the sheets and bed linen covered in a substantial amount of blood requiring replacement bedding.

The dishwasher was repaired within 2 days of it being reported which is quite a good service we feel and we certainly did NOT say what has been alleged, it is not our style as you will see from the other reviews and why would we say such a thing and then get a repair done within 2 days? It simply does not add up.

Although we do try, we do honestly try hard, we have to accept that we will not please everyone all of the time, but that will not stop us trying :-)

Hi Karin,

The HL site and description is very clear and as you will see from the latest reviews everyone without exception has not been dissapointed or has an issue.

The HL site clearly states "there are NO food cooking facilities/ppliances within it other than ....... ".. You have your own gas hob, microwave, infrared oven and state of the art dishwasher, washer and dryer. This is all known well before booking from the HL description and the reviews. Guests book having read the description and reviews.

I'm sorry you feel so upset even before you arrive but we are very clear on our HL Web site as you can see and guests really love the Lodge as the reviews show.

regards

Paul

“Outstanding and very high tech!”

We had a brilliant week at forest corner lodge, the lodge itself was amazing and very high tech with everything you need from 5* accomdation. The only downside is the lodge does not have a sink or cooker, but don't let this stop you as we ate in the lodge most evenings with no trouble due to the state of the art gas BBQ (with hob) and dishwasher.

The location of the lodge is great, and in a ideal location for seeing the new forest and surrounding towns and villages. Wildlife is also a friendly neighbour waking up most mornings to horses, donkeys, ponies and cows grazing on the green out the front, or to seeing a hurd of deer whilst out on a evening walk.

With its added luxury of the hot tub, near by pubs, farm shop and horse riding at fir tree farm this is a truly magical place where we will return as soon as we can..

“Very clean and very warm”
Reviewed February 14, 2015 for a stay in February 2015

Slightly smaller than I expected but super clean with lovely comfortable beds and all the mod cons. Would be even nicer in the summer as you would open the doors onto the patio. Radiators everywhere, so very warm, being winter. Enjoyed the jacuzzi and also the location was excellent.
