A very boring menu and poor quality food as well as being over priced. “Hand cut” chips were basically Macdonalds fries. Definitely won’t be visiting again

Venue is a lovely setting and sets up the anticipation of a great meal....however that's where it goes down hill. poor food which is overpriced and not worth the money.

Visited here on the Friday after the hottest day of the year so far with a view to having cold drinks outside. However given that everyone else had the same idea with office staff cooling off on TGIF we resorted inside. This was very fortuitous since not only was there lots of space but we were able to enjoy the great atmosphere of this former church. The added bonus was a front row seat to listen to a live folk act with reminiscences of the 1960s, so the Beatles were on the agenda, and although very much appreciated, the offer to my wife of a personal request was sadly declined. Having to be at the Mayflower opposite, we did not dine on this occasion but were well satisfied with a pint of Irish Pale Ale for me and a grand Lime Soda for my lady.
Great retreat from the busy Commercial Road.

Attended a birthday celebration at The Vestry, there were 26 of us and the seating was not the best. The food was really nice but not much of it, I had the Cod it was lovely but on looking at other plates that so much more on them, the Panna Cotta was again lovely but so small.
The service was poor, the waitresses did their best but two main meals and three sweets were forgotten, when they eventually came most people had already finished their meals.
Finally the bill was a fiasco and took over an hour to sort out. Not a great experience.

Sunny day with people wanting to sit outside. The seats were filthy, cigarette ends everywhere, poor state, broken parasol bases. Looked very sad & neglected & not the classy venue it used to be. Huge queue for drinks, the staff said there was no food!!!????
It felt like they were disinterested in giving any service. Such a shame for somewhere with great possibilities & expectations. X
