“Not impressed”

Unable to get 2 showers on the first morning. Went to discuss this and were told that WE had left the tap running, which we CERTAINLY had NOT. Very rude to my wife and although apologised for his rudeness to me still said WE had left the tap on. This has apparently happened on a number of occasions. Were the taps in poor condition? No they shut off fine. This again happened on the following morning after obviously ensuring all taps were turned off. The continental breakfast is a joke. It consisted of items left in a fridge in your room and only the tea/coffee making facilities as your drink i.e. 2 each per day. There was decaf, which my wife drinks, available on the 1st day but when topped up was not replenished with decaf. No table to sit at for breakfast and very limited choice. If you don't like porridge you go hungry. The mattress needs replacing as we found ourselves permanently in the middle. The room was cold and the heating non eventful. Right next to the bin store where all the bottles were emptied too early and too noisily so disturbing us. There was no information at all in the room for the area or the facilities and most important of all what to do in an Emergency/Fire we would not have known where to assemble. The towels were old, thin, small and rough. the shower screen hardly stopped the water and so flooded the bathroom floor, which had been happening for a long period of time as evidenced by the damage seen. Overall the worst place we have ever stayed in, in over 20 years of travelling around the world.

We stayed here last weekend, Very clean and comfy rooms , They were a touch tatty but very clean with complimentry teas, coffee and biscuits and a nice selection for breakfast. We had the end room at top of carpark and never heard a sound all night.
The staff were very helpful showing us to the accomidation and booking us in for an evening meal.
Food was gorgeous perfectly cooked and service was quick and nothing was too much trouble. An enjoyable night away.

My wife and I ate here on a wet Tuesday evening in September and it was very welcoming. The real ale was well kept, the staff were pleasant, knowledgeable and attentive and the food was of a high standard, tasty and good value. The car park is small, but that is about the only bad thing we could think to say about the Fox and Hounds. Try it - you won't be disappointed.

We did not stay here, but went for lunch with my friends. We had meat pie, where at the bottom the pastry was not cooked, soggy! The vegetables were like bullets. We complained, but the Manager said "Well not had any complaints before" . Funny that as I went 2 years ago to the same pub and complained then and they said the same thing, I just wanted to give it another try. I think they sing off the same hyme sheet. Customer service is a very important thing now-a-days, just remember, you wont get any here! We were not offered anything off, or even a complimentary cup of tea. Wont be going back and will pass this on!

Stayed here as a weeding party the night before the big day; booked 3 of the rooms and ate at the restaurant, which was lovely and reasonably priced, but we felt a bit rushed to finish our meal (so didn't order desserts) as the staff were 'tidying away' the dining area for the night.

The rooms were fairly basic but comfortable, although during the night the room got incredibly muggy and there was no obvious way of cooling the room down other than leaving the door open, which we weren't going to do!

The bathroom seemed clean, but when using the bath I had an awful view of the underside of the toilet bowl, which had a lot of old yellow urine marks and 'trails' on it; whoever cleans needs more attention to detail, not just the 'surface'. (bathroom mirrors were also dirty too..)

One of my guests had a room facing the main pub, which was apparently very noisy late into the night from the bar area, and outside garden which are only a few metres away.

We had thought and discussed having a cooked breakfast, but were told that there was no point in having the kitchen up and working for such a small group as the chef was paid hourly, and it seemed a bit of a waste!

Luckily, the location was the main selling point for me, as I had a few wedding phtoographs taken down by the duck pond which came out very nicely!

Room Tip: Choose a room with a bath - futher from the noisy bar in the evening

The rooms were ghastly, the beds terrible and the linens were awful. The towels could have easily been replaced by sandpaper. The breakfast was joke!

Now the restuarant/pub are charming with great food and just overflowing with charm and character. Stop for a great meal but find somewhere, anywhere else to sleep.

Just returned from 2 nights at the fox and hounds. We had a lovely time. yes the accomodation could do with a bit of attention, very basic but for the price it was okay. it was clean and comfortable. did not think much of the continental breakfast. Maybe it could have been a bit healthier. The staff in the pub were great, friendly and nothing too much trouble especially the young Man. The food was great, we went to the restaurant not really expecting much but was pleasently suprised. We went to a Michalin star restaurant last month and I have to say the meal at the fox and Hounds was much better, good English food not messed about with. The village is fabulous all thatched cottages, evan the duck pond had a thatched nest. I would return to this pub anytime. Thank you
