2 days before travelling to St Albans for a university reunion for 5 of us, our apartment reservation with booking.com was cancelled and they offered to rebook us into this hotel. We were of course disappointed not to have an appartment to share but had no choice but to accept the offer of a 4 bed and a 1 bed bedroom for the weekend.
In the end it all turned out for the best. We were greeted by Joe, the friendly receptionist and also by the barman/waiter/concierge Lazarus, both of whom made us feel extremely welcome. Lazarus gave us great tips for going out the two nights we were there. If you like karaoke definitely try the Jolly Sailor just down the road and then for a bit of Greek plate smashing madness head to Anastasias Greek Restaurant.
The hotel itself was a classical wedding venue style hotel. Rooms were clean if a little old fashioned. No air conditioning but they did provide us with a fan when we asked for it.
English breakfast was delicious and freshly made to order.
The hotel was just a 10 minute walk from the main station and about 15 minutes from the town centre so very convenient to go anywhere. St Albans is on the train line to Luton Airport so anyone going there would find this a convenient place to sleep.
We would definitely recommend this hotel to others.More
