Description: Dems is a restaurant that offers something for everyone, from early in the morning to late at night. Our highly acclaimed breakfasts, terrifically good value lunch menu and sophisticated evening menu are hugely popular and served in a beautiful environment in the centre of Canterbury by the very best and friendliest of staff dedicated to help make your meal a memorable one, whatever the time of day. We also cater for the needs of the visitors to the Marlowe Restaurant with a wonderful Theatre Menu that provides a fast 3 course meal for £14.95, the ideal accompaniment to any show. *Please note - we have limited wheel chair access from the St Peter's Street entrance ('the high street) but only a small number of tables in the front of the restaurant; we therefore encourage all customers wishing to be seated at the front of the restaurant to pre-book.

Chose Dems after good reviews and lication to the Marlowe theatre. We were very disappointed with the food. For my main course I chose the seafood paella which was served tepid on a cold plate . The rice was overcooked and tasteless. Another dish had an item missing and tiramisu lacked flavour. I suggest that they perhaps stick to a simple lunch menu that the kitchen could cope with better. Would recommend trying it again for a summer evening outing.

We chose to eat here ahead of our show due to the proximity to the theatre as well as the good reviews. Service was fine on the whole but nothing/no-one stood out. The food was average - presented well but the flavours just didn't quite hit the mark. We sent back one dish because it was lukewarm & was served on a cold plate. The staff dealt with this nicely but it was a shame it happened. We would consider trying this restaurant again but there is plenty of other choice in the city unfortunately for them...!

We’ve eaten here on numerous occasions, usually having the pre theatre option. The staff are lovely, attentive and friendly. We’ve always had the table we’ve requested which in other restaurants quite often gets ignored.
Don’t let the price put you off, although it’s inexpensive, the food is very good quality. I also took advantage of the cocktail happy hour too, one happy lady!
Another bonus, it’s very close to the theatre.

This was our first visit to Dems. We were sat in the front of the restaurant which was a bit cut off from the main dining area and very cold as it was right next to the door. Service was a little slow but the food was tasty and well presented. There was a pianist right next to us and although I initially thought it would be too loud, it actually wasn't.
